Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
For all you ladies who are vets of the strip game, I guess like 5+ years, are you honest when guys ask how long you have been dancing? I'm 23 and I started at 18 and at first I would like and say 1 or 2 years because I was embarrassed about being in the game so long, but now I'm completely honest and I find that it makes the job easier and more fun. I don't know why I tried to hide that fact in the first place-- are you ladies honest? Why or why not?

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
When custies ask me, I always halve it, so that they don't know my age (I look young). But if another dancer asks me, Im always honest about it....been in the game on and off for 11 years now.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
When asked this question.
Reply: Remember when women had tails, yeah, you do. yah, you do.
Well, I finally lost mine when, oh, about 6million BC?
Yeah, you remember that now, don't ya?
Well, you wanna watch me shake it now? C'mon
and you will see a timeless piece of ass in action.
Ready? What you are about to see is timeless and forever.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
Most of the time I say on and off for a couple of years. The truth is, pretty consistently for 8 years. The reason I lie....I remember back when I first started and a few of the girls told me how long they'd been at it....I felt sorry for them and vowed to never end up like that. Obviously I was wrong and hey this (for the most part) is a great job. As long as you can keep your head on straight there's no reason this can't be your career. But this is all too much to try to get across to the customer so hence the lie.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I've always told custies how long. In fact it's been eight years as of today! (I started on Christmas day, talk about feeling guilty during mass that morning!)
The question that comes after that is how old I am. I started dancing at 28 and I figure if I'm still in it and making money at 36, why not brag about it!

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I have come up with the near perfect answer as I realise that they are either making small talk and don't really care or are trying to find out if you are any good or not... based upon their opinion that longer in the industry better at a dance.. sort of theory.
I've been doing this long enough to know that I do what I do very well
emphasis on the VERY... then I close the sale.
Another similiar answer I use:
Young enough to do it, and long enough to keep doing it .. and do it extrememly well
;D

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
GCG! Good answer!
I always just tell the truth--it's been 7 years. Funny thing, about 6 months ago, I blurted out, "Longer than I care to admit!" when a custy asked me. Then, I realized that most guys don't believe me when I tell either my age ( 28 ) or how long I've been dancing. So, I just tell the truth! I don't think I've straight lied about either, though. Maintaining a lie is just too much work for me!

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
This is one of those questions that I answer differently depending on my mood, and doing so is merely a form of self-entertainment to keep myself from getting tired of the same ol' same ol'. I mean what customer really cares, right? Except that any conversation is simply a means to advancing the whole transaction.
I suppose my most common response is, "Guess. How long do you think?" And sonuvagun, if they don't hit really close every time. "You must be psychic!"
Another option is, "Honey, if you're wanting my resume, we have this private dance area where I'd love to audition for you. Let's go now, I have this urge to demonstrate both my experience and enthusiasm."

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I've always told the truth. It's 10.5 years now - they always seem shocked it's been that long, or that I'm old enough to have danced that long. But they also seem to like it. I'm damn good at my job and they respect and enjoy that. Some will ask how long I've been at it while commenting what a good dance I do, as if they realize it takes experience to be that smooth/good/whatever. Some just comment how good a dancer I am, and I nonchalantly reply that you learn alot about a job in 10 years, and they like it.
Guys like a sex goddess who knows what she's doing. They know it takes practice and experience to become that. And many of them respect a woman who can do this job for a long time, since it's well known that most don't last 6 months. They often have even more respect for a woman who does this for a long time and still looks fucken HOT - especially if she's one of the hottest in the club ;D :P

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I totally agree with the whole "seniority" thing. Most other dancers ask the question just to see if they "know more" than the other dancer. I never lie. I've been dancing for a little over 2 years. The only way to see who knows more than who is to look at the stage or in the lapdance room when a girl is there. If she makes good money and enjoys herself then obviously she knows what she's doing.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I've danced for 5 years now. I always tell the truth. So far, my age hasnt actually turned anyone away.
-
Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
One guy last night said "you don't look like you would have to dance that long (meaning 5 years)". Kinda irritated me some.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I always tell the truth (almost 11yrs),and then they ask:"Did you start at 10?".That's a cute comment,I take it as a compliment.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I get that too. They don't really mean that, just trying to flatter, but that's ok ;D

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
As a customer, I like women near my own age -mid thirties, and respect someone who does their job well, or merely has stamina for any tough job. Why lie about either?

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I tell them not long enough... I havn't retired yet!

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I'm honest because I don't think it has ever affected my money. I might be a bullshitter, but I'm a bad liar so I keep it pretty honest.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I always say 11yrs too, unless the guys a jerk then I just blow them off.
I have gotten the 10yrs old thing too, and it is cute, lol.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
About 16 years with some periods out of the business. I'm 37 now and started when I was 20-21 years old needing money.

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I've been dancing almost 4 years now and I always tell them the truth. Sometimes I get the "You don't look old enough to have been dancing that long" comments too, which is sweet, but I think they're just trying to get on my good side. ;)

Yeah, alright, all you soothsayers caught me. The reason I don't like to tell the truth on this question is ..well, other than it sets a bad precedent.. and other than the fact that the complete truth for me would involve a disclaimer about serving non-consecutive terms like Grover Cleveland... I don't particularly care for the answer, at least in the funk I've been in lately. It's one of those things that trigger an endless loop of analysis in my mind over WTF I'm doing. K? Damn happy campers. :P

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
I started at 17. Yes. 17. Yes. It's illegal. I'm an outlaw!!! I am now 24.
I always tell the truth. It doesn't make a difference anyway. Tomorrow night it's on to the next sucker!

Re: Stripper Veterans and the "how long" question...
Roughly ten years-May 7 1994-April 1, 2004. The clubs that I worked in had a lot of townies so they knew me for the most part. I would lie about how long I had been in the business and my age if I perceived that it would fulfill the customer's fantasy and get me the dance. I felt that I was there to make money, create a fantasy, not to tell them anything close to my personal business. I maintain a dual persona-one for inside the club-one for out.
