Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I remember some time ago that there was a post about Uber Strippers. Since then, I have pondered how each and every dancer can become "Uber." What is that certain je nais se quois? How can it be developed and nurtured? Silly question? Maybe. But who knows, maybe there some pearls of wisdom that everyone can benefit from. Any thoughts? :eye: :eye:
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I don't know, but sometimes I feel I have it, and sometimes I feel I don't.
Sometimes there are days when I look at some long haired, naturally, curvy girl raking in the money, and all I can think of is my hair is too short, or I'm a little too skinny, or my ass is too big, I'm too much of a tomboy, why don't I wear more bling.... and then other times it's like there are no other girls in the room! I remember reading jenna Jameson's book where she boasted about making thousands of dollars every night, when in reality we all know there are good and bad nights, and perhaps she was exaggerating slightly. I hope so, because that would make me feel shit. Maybe the uber-stripper is the whole package. Gorgeous, intelligent, knows how to hustle, knows how to play guys, knows how to control them in the CR without hurting herself.... I would like to be that girl. Here's what I wrote about those nights though - you know, the ones where you're the queen.... http://miminewyork.blogspot.com/2005...-of-night.html
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
It's good to be the queen, every once in a while.

In that case, next Halloween I will try being a queen.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
^ Eep! I suppose I won't be coming to Dallas for Halloween then. *shudders*
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
Yeah....Me in heels. That gives me a visual even I don't need.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
Nope, not everyone can be an uberstripper, though we all have our nights when we're on. I have worked with some amaaaazing ones, and I'm pretty confident I'm just a pretty damn good stripper.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I've been a customer of strip places for over 20 years, the nearest to the uber stripper I ever saw was a girl from Brooklyn called Roxanne who worked in London during the 1980s. She had worked in NY { feature dancer at the Roxy for a time plus subscriptions manager for Screw magazine !} originally but wanted to become a rock star and thought that was easier in London. She was 5ft 11, jet black waist lenth hair, massive tits, long legs etc. Both her parents were professors at Columbia Uni so she was very bright, she was also extreemy witty, she could play most musical instruments well, and was a great cook. She eventually became keyboards player in a band called the Fall and toured the world but packed in aged 28 to pursue a career in medicine. She had no UK qualifications so she had to take A levels { normally done at 17 or 18} first but got accepted at Cambridge University. She passed the course and now works as a surgeon in the UK!

Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I used to be all about this uber-stripper at work. But... then I came down from the experience of being in her "presence" (she kinda sucks you in) and realized that although she has all the charisma and pizazz of someone who seems to be born to strip... she's not a great hustler because she's too full of herself. Dont get me wrong-- I learned some lessons from watching her. (Like how to carry yourself AS IF you're the hottest girl in the room, AS IF you bank every night etc etc) But seriously. I finally was able to separate fact from fiction with this girl. She had short curly blonde hair and was like a live pin-up girl. She had the essence of a movie star, and in my club, no one else comes close to exuding that essence. Damn was she intimidating. But she hardly ever gave dances. Seriously. She was too full of herself and would leave complaining that she didnt get the money she deserved and would find some reason about the club as to why she wasn't making good money. (She left.) Just goes to show that yeah you might have a good clue as to who the consistently successful strippers are in your club (if you care)... but you can never tell by looking who's banking.
That said, there's another girl at my club who I thought was total crap. Nice girl... but has poor taste in outfits and has such a belly on her that guys ask her if she's pregnant. She could pass for 4-5 mos. thin lips. awkward eyebrows. The only thing she does on stage is bend over so the guys can see her pu$$y. That being said, that girl cleans up the floor. She can always be found with the guys that have the champagne. She disappears in the VIP rooms. She comes behind me and cleans up after me. I see her giving dances all over the room some nights. Regardless of her appearance or lack of charisma, I'm beginning to consider her an UBER-HUSTLER.
I'm more about the uber-hustlers, which may have been what the OP meant. But I just thought I'd add that I used to think they were the same thing as uber-strippers, but the longer I work in the club, the more i'm convinced that this business belongs to the hustlers and not the ones that pour their energy into appearing to be an alpha-stripper.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I worked at one club where I thought that one of the girls was an uber-stripper. She did INCREDIBLE pole work -- beautiful and dramatic performances where she could suspend herself in pretty incredible ways by just one limb, and she also did incredible two girl shows with another dancer; she was also serious enough about her pole work that she sometimes wore ace bandages on her wrists & ankles during her performance! At first I was intimidated by her, but then slowly realized that she actually was an amazing person. Even when there was just one or two people in the club, she didn't complain about going onstage, but still did incredible performances for the two custies and all of the other girls. She wore very little (noticeable) makeup and the same dress and panties every night. Her looks weren't incredible (I think she even had buck teeth!), but you didn't notice that because of her dramatic facial structure, her long hair and stage presence. She always pointed out tips to improve my stage work and was very encouraging, even when I learned pretty basic things. She dated one of the employees at the club, but they had such a discreet and professional relationship that it'd be very hard to tell that they were together. She'd also tip other girls if they were feeling down or out, and had an incredible talent for dominating tables full of businessmen. Talking to her with her custies, it sounded like she also would talk to them outside of the club if she ran into them, making her approachable (though she was certainly not an extras girl). I also never saw her get into any of the catfights or shittalking that other girls often were drawn into.
That's the kind of stripper to whom I aspire.

That is the best thing I've ever heard of a stripper doing post-dancing. Ever.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
There have been a few in London who have had some success in music, eg an ex stripper called Lisa was in a band called Peaches which had a minor US hit. I'd have thought ending up as a surgeon was more unusual !
Tyke
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
Nope, there's many more surgeons out there than former members of the Fall.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I did not think anybody in the US would have heard of the Fall, they were the favourite group of a famous DJ { who died recently} called John Peel. She had her own band called Khemer Rouge at one point as well and did quite a bit of session work.

We're not idiots, Tyke. Some of us even know who John Peel was. ::) The Fall may be obscure but they're highly influential in some musical circles.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
MARK E SMITH! yeah the Fall have only had about...oh...i dunno 46 albums or something like that. Still, I agree with Susan (as usual)...that kicks ass. And the amount of Peel Sessions I have on vinyl is just obnoxious. Yeah, some of us in the US know what's going on musically in the UK.
sorry to be a wee bit OT.
Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
She was with them for a couple of years in the mid 80s, she was there when the singles " Ghost in my house" and " Hit the North" were around plus that ballet thing and the Frenz Experiment album. They did not pay very well so she was still stripping in pubs for most of that period. She was on the front cover of NME one weekend when on at Browns { London's most famous strip pub} and came 7th or 8th in the sex symbol bit of their annual readers poll.

No mention of her in that one I'm afraid though I'd have thought she was by far the most interesting ex Fall member.

Re: Search for the Elusive Uber Stripper
I have seen some not so hot strippers make crazy money every single night. The uber stripper is all about the attitude..."Men are here to see me, this is my house, therefore I am sexy..." Those are the girls who are truly uber strippers.
