80/90s rap
I like to dance to older different music. 2 of my 'signature' songs are 'Me So Horny' by 2 Live Crew and 'Paul Revere' by Beastie Boys. Any other old skool rap songs that you think would be fun to dance to? Ive also danced to 'My Posses On Broadway' ... LOL... I just like to be different... any input would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: 80/90s rap
I just got a new dancer in my club who can shake her booty like there's no tomorrow. She also happens to be a sweetheart and very, very 'girl-next-doorish', an irresistable combination.
I have been trotting out the old-school rap for her, because it works so well.
"Daisy Dukes", "Back to the Hotel", "Whoomp, There It Is"--all way overplayed back in the day, all kind of dumb, but all perfect for the whole booty-shaking style.
If you like Beastie Boys, try (shit--I gotta go downstairs for my CDs now, lol--hold on)

Re: 80/90s rap
There is a dancer at my club who has a signature set. It's called "Buttermilk Buscuits" and then "Sweet Brown Sugar" sp I think that's what it's called. Both are by Sir Mix alot.
Eventhough it isn't rap..I dance to Bell Biv Devoe "Poison" and ALWAYS do good on stage!

Re: 80/90s rap
OK, back now...
When I first heard Beastie Boys, it was that godawful "Fight for the Right..." and "Brass Monkey", neither of which I will play unless you put a gun to my head and/or are a superb dancer, and maybe not even then, lol.
Then I was in a CD store one day and heard some fantastic sh*t playing, whereupon I forgot entirely why I was there and went running up to the counter and demanded to know who it was, I must have it!
It was the "Ill Communication" CD, which is to me still their best by far.
I particularly like the stuff that Caldato wrote (he joined them for Paul's Boutique), like "Sure Shot", "Flute Loop", "Alright Hear This", "The Scoop", and "Bodhisattva Vow".
The less popular but still quite good CD "Check Your Head" has two more hot Caldato songs, "Jimmy James", and "Stand Together"

Re: 80/90s rap
I need to replace my Too Live Crew best hits CD, or download the songs, ASAMFP, because this "Lucky" (yeah it sounds tacky, but it works--"You can now get Lucky in the VIP") is a f*cking goldmine, lol...
Some people are offended by the sexist/insulting tone of a lot of Too Live Crew songs, but I can at least take it as humor of the most base variety.
Whereas some of the newer rap guys are way too serious about bragging about their "bitches" for my liking. Fortunately this trend seems to be declining as of late--a lot of the newer rap/hip-hop is a lot better than the sh*t that was coming out a couple years ago. I couldn't bear to listen to the hip-hop stations back then, now I can--though I'm not much for spoon-fed radio programming.
Disclaimer--This represents my viewpoint only, and is not in any way to be interpreted as any form of policy here in Music Mix!

Re: 80/90s rap
WTF is the Laffy Taffy song like?
One of the dancers at work keeps asking for it all the time--the name alone sounds stupid...
She is one of those questionable dancers who shouldn't be doing it (why do they hire these women??!!), or else I might take her more seriously. She just started wearing the most ludicrous outfit--a 'naughty little schoolgirl' thing with a flouncy, ruffled dress--only she is so obviously middle-aged, a thick-set woman with a big sagging belly with stretch marks, that the appearance is comic--except when I am forced to put her onstage!
This is the one who got mad because I 'stole her idea' about the spankings with a ruler. Christ she could ruin that whole deal if she keeps trying to do it too.
Hey, nothing against older dancers--arguably my favorite dancer of all time was a woman named Theo, about 35 and smoking hot. She married some professor and dropped off the face of the earth...
Getting back on topic--have you ever tried any George Clinton stuff? "Mathematics" is a hot song, and the lyrics are great for stripping:
"Any percentage of you...is as good as the whole pie..."
One night I was working with Sierra--who does well with this musical genre--and we worked out this deal between the booth and the stage, that if she got tipped a certain amount, that she'd dance another song. We kept a running tally, with me announcing how close she was coming, and her holding up her fingers to show how little was left.
She got the extra song, lol...

Re: 80/90s rap
^^ what a cute idea with the tips and songs...
As for the uh - outfit. WHY do some women wear that outfit? I know its not 'me' so I would never wear it... for some its cute for others - questionable.
The song is called 'Laffy Taffy' and its by D4L ... look it up - uh... possible the worst song EVER... horrible horrible horrible.... you would NOT want to play it... ever, seriously.
