Re: I'm in luv (with a stripper)
The owner at one of the clubs I book at put a sign up in the DJ's booth saying that song can't be played anymore. I don't know what his problem is. We usually play whatever we want in there.
Personally I feel the song is old now,but why the owner would pick on this song is all too weird.

I wanna hear:
I'm In Love With A Sears Cashier
I'm In Love With A McDonalds Fry Cook
I'm In Love With A Bank Teller
I'm In Love With A Stay At Home Mom
I'm In Love With A College Student
Cause yanno, it's all shocking *gasp* to be in love with a stripper. Like we arent real, normal women.

I may listen to it again, but so far I hate it. It's a rappy remix but not done so well IMHO. I actually had high hopes for it because I could stop playing the original when the girls asked and at least give them the remix to keep part of my sanity.
Same feelings exactly on my part--I was thinking, at last something I can play that won't drive the rest of us fucking crazy! But it's disappointing, to say the least.
Why does everyone hate it so much? Good question--it's not really all that bad, compared to some other stuff in a similar vein out there--if you'd just heard it the first time. Not my type of song, but there's stuff I dislike much more than this--at first repetition. But it's slow, which many stripclub managers will not allow, and DJs tend to discourage.
It's also been played to death--especially in stripclubs!
There is so much good music out there! Many of us DJs are happy to have literally thousands and thousands of songs to choose from all manner of diverse and interesting genres, to match any conceivable mood.
What do we hear from 50% of the dancers (some nights I have had that many, no exaggeration)?
"Can I hear 'I'm in Love With a Stripper', PLEEEEEEASE!!!"
Great, be like everyone else all over the country, thousands and thousands of them, vast hordes of strippers all dancing to the same goddamned song, every fucking night...
Forget about displaying some style and imagination, trying to be someone special that the guys might say "Wow! Look at that girl!" about, lol...
I'm kidding around here, but also dead serious--it's far better to put yourself up there as someone special, more exciting, so the guys can't resist you. Dancing to the same song as everyone else all the time defeats the whole game.
I tried explaining this in the most complimentary, diplomatic, careful way possible to a stunning almost-newbie just getting a grip on her considerable power and potential. Didn't work very well--but there's hope for her yet...
