A huge help....
I just want to say thanks to every single person that has shared tips and information about starting out as a dancer. The information and research has been a huge help for me to work up the nerve to do this.
I just went to the club I want to dance at today, and they want me to come back for my official audition on Monday morning, so I am really excited. I've been dancing(classically) for 17 years (I'm 22) and am pretty confident that I'd be good at this. Questions:
They asked me to bring CDs....and a long gown. Did they mean CDs with music that I personally want to dance to.....AND by long gown, what kind of gown do they mean? Do they want a gown thats considered clubwear? Also I have six inch slip-on heels that I was planning to wear....do you think I should get ones with straps for my audition? I saw a dancer today on stage with slip ons, so I figured I'd be okay....
Thanks again.

Re: A huge help....
As for the heels, most beginning dancers should use a platform dance shoe with a strap. It is more comfortable, secure, and takes some time getting used to the height of the shoe. However, if you have been dancing for awhile maybe a slip on heel would be okay for you. The plastic clear heels that have no strap mold to your foot and are pretty secure but I know that I could have never used these in the beginning. I would have lost my shoe or fell down.

Re: A huge help....
as for gowns - slinky and stretchy (easy to remove)
this kind of thing:

and shoes:

you should be able to find a shop near you that sells this stuff. where i live only the sex shops sell these shoes (a tiny range) - so if you can't find what you need in the shops you'll find it online somewhere.

I know this is old, but I think we met. I used to work here on Mondays and I left in February. My name was Morrigan.
