Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
I was watching one of the Barrett Jackson Collectible Car Auctions today on tv, and I was just picking up my jaw from the floor at what these awesome cars went for! The highest sale was $1,150,000! So my question is.... for you ladies in the areas of the auctions (Scottsdale, AZ & Palm Beach, FL), how is the cash flow around the time of these events? Do you get any of these whales in during the show dates? Should I be dashing out there (either one) during these times?

AAHAHAHHAHAHAA! Now THAT would be an awesome idea for a charity auction!!!!
Re: Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
Yeah, I though it was going to be about dancing near a particularly dark corner of the club . . .
Keep in mind that the people who buy auctioned items often aren't at the actual auctions and bid by proxy, so this sort of thing probably has very little effect on local business.

man, i thought it was dancing at a club with extras!!!....GEEZ, I'm dancin at a bj auctions for sure.....here in on the east coast
Re: Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
To answer your question, no you should'nt dash out here to Arizona. The auction is here right now and I have yet to see much money from it.
Re: Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
I haven't worked this year, but last year it was good for me. Not good enough to justify making a last-minute cross-country trip for, but there was a noticeable difference in my income that weekend. I would recommend local girls get their butts to work when Barrett-Jackson is in town, or those already planning a trip here in January to plan it around this, but I wouldn't advise out of towners to make a special trip just for this. I don't see the profits being worth the travel expense.
Re: Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
I did very well this weekend, in fact I broke my all-time record on Friday night....but it wasn't because of Barrett Jackson. Both of the VIP whales I caught on Friday night were in town for other reasons.
There was hardly any traffic from B-J Saturday night. The auction was over around 9-ish, but apparently it took over an hour and a half to get your car from valet, and over an hour to get out of the parking lot...enough to sour the mood to go party. The auction's location is about 20 minutes from the Scottsdale clubs, and 30 minutes from the Phx clubs without traffic....with traffic, ugh!
Of the older "muscle car" guys that I met this week, none of them would buy VIP. They would buy multiple dances on the floor, were easy to sell to, and were perfect gentlemen. A lot of them were pissy because they were outbid on a few cars and felt VIP was "overpriced just like the auction".
I kept watching for the guys who were bidding in the millions...but they never came into CC. I figure those guys probably spent the rest of the night with the overly attractive, much younger women who were on their arm at the auction.
Re: Dancing Near The B-J Auctions?
I have learned that when an event is held in a major city, unless you work at a strip club that is very close to where the event is held, or near the hotels where many attendees are staying, your club won't see much additional business from the event. Guys have a lot of entertainment choices in a big city.
In a small town with one strip club, if an event is in town, guys have fewer choices, and since the convention/event and the motels are probably only a few miles from the club, the small town club will see a noticeable increase in business from the event.
