Safety
How does one stay safe with a job being a dancer?
I really want to dance, but am concerned that one day some nut- might follow me home. You know the kind of fella who's so steeped in fantasy, he follows you in your car, and hides in the bushes.
Does anyone have issues like this? Would anyone give recommendations on the best way to keep safe while having this job? And, do you girls generally park at the club, or take taxi cabs?
Thnx.

Re: Safety
Be aware when you leave the club of everyone around you. If your club has mgmt or doormen that will walk you to the car, do so. I use drivers when I leave the club, my driver has been in the buisness for years so hes very aware of every car, movement or person around. He will take a slight detour when hes taking me home if he suspects something. He takes me right to the door of my building and waits until im through the doors before he leaves.
Its extreme for around here but its something hes always done, he cares about the girls saftey.
I dont have my license so I dont have to worry about my own car. If I did I dont think I would drive to and from the club. Sometimes I like to have a drink or two and wouldnt want to risk being pulled over.
The girls on here have posted many helpful tips about saftey over the board so do a search.
Saftey is a big factor when you get into dancing. You always want to be careful.
Make sure you have a cell phone on you, if you can, get pepper spray for your purse.
Also in the club saftey is important. Be aware of how much your customer has had to drink, if he looks intoxicated size up what type of a drunk he is, if hes grabby or subdued. Make sure your club has good security and cameras in the club. And never do anything your not sure about. As long as your aware and use common sense you can avoid a lot of things. But like anything else in life there is always a risk.
Good luck :)

Re: Safety
I drive home from work because I don't drink at work (I'm only 20). After work I can't leave until all of the customers are out of the parking lot, and a bouncer walks me out and waits until I start my car and start leaving the parking lot. If I feel like someone is following me, I take a bunch of turns. I make sure I have my cell phone in my lap in case I need to call someone. Don't be afraid to call the police if someone is following you even after taking a bunch of turns to see if they keep following you. It's better to be safe than sorry. I've never had any problems though.

Re: Safety
Some of the women I work with actually walk home from work--though it's rare, and most know better...
I would venture to say that your odds of being stalked (always there for attractive women to some extent) are increased dramatically if you dance for very long, so taking precautions that might seem paranoid under other circumstances might be prudent instead.

Re: Safety
I can't leave until everyone is out of the lot. Then the doorman walks me out to my car. Day/mid shift girls are walked out to thier cars. If I think someone is following me I'll go to the Fire station close to me. I've had to do this before. The person started to continue following me until I turned in the fire st. lot. I also carry(if u know what I mean?) But, I don't recomend this for everyone. I've been trained on how to use a weapon. Never carry unless u know for sure how to use the thing. In some cases weapons can be used against u. Just be cautious of your surrondings.

Re: Safety
I carry Pepper Spray in my car... I've never had to use it though...
I think its just important to be aware of your surroundings until you are home... I've actually had one customer try to follow me... Freaked Out!!! I stayed on the phone with a girlfriend and went to a 7-11 and freaked out on him in the store... I stayed there until he left...
Luckily, I kive pretty far from where I work.. (Like an hour) so most would probably get bored following me all the way...

Re: Safety
1 Maglite flashlight, under 30 bucks. Best investment ever. It is similar to a police baton in striking power. Also has a strong light beam you can blind someone with.
2 Pepper spray, but buy the stream spray one- I had a bad experience with the cheap style (makes a cloud of vapor, blitzes everything in the area)
3 Never do anything alone after work...obviously.
4 Cell phone.
5 Know places you can drive to if being followed- police/fire/ambulance stations, friend/neighbor's houses, businesses that are open late (like Denny's or a well-lighted truck stop cafe.)
6 Switch up your route home.
7Always be hyper-aware- "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
