An open dress code is nice but with standards--ie bottoms covered, no mismatched outfits, etc.
In the right environment, a gown club draws the perfect customers. In the wrong environment, customers leave to find the girls in bikinis...
As a dancer, gowns are much more expensive and sometimes require more upkeep than "outfits." Plus, an open dress code allows girls to stand out.
Unless your in the perfect spot for gowns, I agree with what Susan said... have some rules, but don't require gowns.
I'd rather be able to choose what I want to wear. Some people feel more comfortable and look better in a gown and others in other things. I personally feel like a fool in those fluorescent "stripper" outfits but some girls look great in them. Variety is nice too, in my opinion at least.
Gowns are awesome... but a bit ridiculous for a 12-5 daytime shift.
I think the entertainers and well as customers should have some sort of dress code to keep things classy. If you have a bunch girls wearing clothing that doesn't flatter them or dressing poorly than I think you attract a clientale that dresses poorly.
I agree that dress codes should be inforced. I hate seeing the girls that believe the idea that going shopping for dancer clothes is at "Wal-mart".
I hated wearing the gowns. Every once in a while was fine...but not every night. Not only are they a pain in the ass to put on and take off...but, I thought it was just cheesy.
I always preferred the "dress as you like" type of style. I liked being able to wear different outfits that fit my mood. I think it brings a lot more personality to the club. Make sure that the girls stay within "guidelines" but give them the freedom to wear what they want.
I love wearing gowns. I worked in a club where they didn't required to wear gowns and I always did. For me it worked very good, I feel better and sexier when I wear a gown so I guess that's why it worked for me.
Since management reinstated our wearing gowns, I have gained weight. Maybe it's just me, but seeing as I don't have to parade around in a tiny little outfit, I am more inclined to eat that piece of cake and miss my workouts.
IMO the ideal dress code for a nice club...#1: no string bikinis (guys can get that at the beach and usually the ladies don't even remove the top for a lap dance, they just expose their tits) #2: with the exception of stage & private dances, keep your ass covered (no need to walk the floor in a G-string, let's leave a little something to be revealed)
I was hired at a club and once I heard their dress code I split. They said no black. WTF! Most of my things are black. I look and feel good in it. I thought that was a ridiculous dress code. /:O
I agree ! All things being equal ( like $, contact etc. ) I prefer a gown club . I enjoy dressing up . I even enjoy the cheesy aspect of it that Venus mentioned earlier.Quote:

I like the whole old hollywood / pin up girl / drag queen feeling of it all 8) It's girly, glam and bold and down right fun !
gowns, all the way... classy, sexy, entices a higher dollar crowd.
I agree with Taryn's feelings about gowns making you feel glamorous/old hollywood. Problem is, in my red-neck of the woods,(every pun intended) we only have one true "gown club". The rest are anything goes and wearing gowns is seen as old school. Most girls are very into the little pleated micro skirt sets or booty short sets.
I like both, but I just think it should always be matching if it's two piece. Just looks more professional to me.
The shift manager makes a dress code for the shift. Yesterday afternoon it was no shorts, neon, or wraps. The pm manager's dress code was no shorts before 10, change at least three times. Most girls hate wearing gowns. I love to when the board in the dressing room dosen't say, "GOWNS ONLY". Wearing a gown when everyone else isn't really gets me some attention.
I don't know if customers really think gowns are silly; I always am complimented on long dresses. I'm sure some of them don't like it and would prefer to see a variety of outfits; it might get boring seeing nothing but bikinis or everyone in a mini tube dress too.
i prefer to wear gowns and mini dresses....
gowns remind me of a high school prom... i would venture to say that the majority of men coming into the club would most likely prefer to see a woman in a skimpier outfit..... just my opinion.....
I'm not into gowns. I have one. I like little short stuff. I feel more sexy and less stuffy.
Depends on the club. A gown (long dress) is just 'too much' for some clubs and won't make you any money whereas in other clubs it is just the thing to set you apart. I wear whatever I feel comfortable wearing within the club and what seems to work (of course).
we are required to wear gowns in my main club. (thurs-sat) i still wear gowns at my other club that doesnt require them. it makes me stand out.
i prefer gowns personally... At the club I am at now I make more money wearing something more revealing
I like wearing gowns. I regularly wear 2 of them and I really like how they look on me. Most of the girls walk around in booty shorts and bra tops. I dunno I guess doing something to stand out is key!
Most girls at my club used to wear bikinis and two-pieces, so I wore dresses to stand out. A gown would have been too much, I think, but a nice cocktail-type dress was perfect. Then the club passed a rule that required dresses, so now I look like everybody else. Oh well.
