Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Congratulations to you! That sounds exciting! Keep us updated. :)
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Nice!
What is the ballpark that features get paid in the US? Just curious. Up here it's about $75-150 per show.
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
At the club I work at, they pay features $1500 for 9 shows (3 each night- Thurs, Fri, Sat) but I guess every club pays a little different. For the Texas tour that he wants me to do, I will be making less because it is mostly just for me to get a feel for featuring, so I will be getting $1200 per week from each club, plus whatever I make in tips and selling promos and polaroids.
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Good for you. Don't forget the little people when you blow up :).

Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Wow, that's so awesome! You should be uber proud of yourself!
I thought that in order to feature you had to have been in porn or something? Is it really as simple as just sending pictures in and if they like you you're suddenly a feature?
Sorry for my ignorance, I've been long retired from dancing.
Best of luck!

I'm curious about this too. What does it take to be a feature? Anyway, congrats! Let me know if you swing through Austin on your Texas tour. I'll be sure to come and shower you with money.
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Aww Thats wicket Madison is going to be a star! :D Have fun girl, You'r definiitly gonig to blow up as a feature! :) ....
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
You do not have to have been in porn to be a feature dancer.
I know 2 girls that feature at clubs where they know the management or have danced there in their "up and coming" years and moved on to other clubs. As far as I know you don't even have to go thru an agency to be a feature dancer either.
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
I adore Frank, he is the best. And it's so cool to me that Continental was started by a stripper, the burlesque performer Rita Atlanta!
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Continental is great! Congrats :D

I'm ten years out of date, but here's an article I wrote about one of my friends who was an agent for a few years:
http://www.gstringsforever.com/palombo.html
And this is a link to a book in which I have an essay about how I became a feature dancer.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/156...Fencoding=UTF8
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the best way to find out how to become a feature is to ask a reputable agent. And then another question is, how do you get to be a BOOKABLE feature? That is, anybody can get together a press kit and be a feature, but who gets the most and the best bookings for the highest rates?
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Sorry, new here, i take it "featuring" means you're like the IT girl right? Like the best dancer or whatever....? or hottest?

It would mean she'd be doing bookings at clubs across the country as a promotion instead of being a "House Girl" at her home club. There's also a more show business aspect to being a feature.
Some clarification between the two:

To become a feature, you send in polaroids to the agents, and if they like what they see, then sometimes they want to meet with you in person before they decide, or like in my case, he called me and said he wanted me to start right away this summer after school is done for the year. To be a "bookable" feature, you have to have some kind of credits, for example, magazines, videos, or competition titles like Miss Nude USA, etc. You don't have to have any credits to start out with (I don't have any), but they expect that you will do competitions, mags, etc to make clubs want to book you. One of the main things that sets features apart from house girls, besides all the traveling and promotions when you go to a club, is that features usually have credits and have done mags and competitions. So it is often hard for new features to get a lot of good bookings, because new features are often not much different than house girls, besides the elaborate costumes and theme shows.
So I plan on entering competitions and being in mags, but I won't be doing any porn. I know that many features do, but it's just not for me. I'll let you guys know what clubs I'll be at if I do the Texas tour this summer (I'm still waiting to hear from Ken from Lykens Entertainment, so I don't for sure know yet which agent I'm going to go through) so maybe I'll be meeting a lot of you girlies. YAAAAAYY!
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
Thanks Madison--that's really interesting to me, because it's exactly the same as it was ten years ago, which I wouldn't have expected!
Congratulations and good luck!

That's pretty darn good $$ for 3nights/week & not having to hustle guys at all! Congratulations ;D
Re: AHHHHH! Featuring!!!!
I agree! You'll be making more as a rookie feature than most seasoned features up here! Plus tip money. Sweet!

If other elements are similar to my experience, as are the ones she described above, a feature may need to canvass the customers for sales of polaroids and other items, plus promotions, and you do a lot of work to get the shows together and maintain them. Plus when you're traveling the traveling itself is part of the work, you don't get to work and then go home, you're gone for four days to work three, which I always thought of as being "at work" for 24 hours of each of the days on the road.
I never felt like it was easy money at all. It was great in many ways, but not easy. I felt like it was way easier to stay home, which is what I decided to do in the end.
But I knew lots of features who loved it and would never work as house dancers again once they started, so that's not meant as discouragement at ALL. I was just a bit of a slacker!

Obviously not every girl who sends in pics to an agency is going to be selected as 'feature material'. And no you don't have to have porn credits to work as a feature, any more than you have to have a cup size in the second half of the alphabet, or Playboy/Penthouse credits.
However, the financial side of featuring is can be fairly 'anemic' if the girl doesn't have the porn credits or huge boobs or Playboy/Penthouse credits for the clubowners to advertise and draw in customers who come to the club specifically to see a particular feature. For example, being paid $1500 for a 'long weekend' of shows doesn't amount to all that much after you subtract out the cost of round trip plane tickets plus four days of food and accomodations. Plus most clubs 'restrict' features from steadily 'working the room' the way house dancers do, and instead allow them say three 15 minute stage shows per night plus maybe 30 minutes of polaroids and private dances after each show. Therefore it is very possible for some features to earn less take-home money than house dancers after taxes and expenses are subtracted.
Of course features do have alternate sources of MAJOR revenue available - typically doing 'private sessions' for fans outside the club. In fact some girls feature for the primary purpose of taking a tax deduction on their travel expenses from city to city and to take advantage of clubowner advertising to boost 'private session' business. You might want to check out if you don't understand what I'm talking about.

While I don't plan on doing that, some features do. I plan on only doing competitions, mags, and dancing in clubs. I'm also planning on eventually setting up a website, once I get some pictures taken and get into the swing of things.
