Ameture Nights
I know that this technically isnt in the right area, but oh well. I stopped dancing about a month ago. I dont really want to start again but I would like to do some ameture nights. Does any body know any well paying contests around the northwest ohio, northeast Indiana area?

Re: Ameture Nights
they rig those. You will get second place. Trust me. I went to THREE of them and in everyone I was the only experianced dancer til at the last minute some girl suddenly would arrive... like after all of us have been sitting there liek an hour chit chatting and then she'd get first (although I saw nothing spectacular) and I would get second. Everyone would be like why didn't you win. By amatuer it meant you hadn't worked int he club before but you COULD be a actual dancer so I was pulling off upside down pull tricks and flexability I could only have acheived through months of stretching and I was in my top shape. So I won the second prize $50 plus the tips which ranged from $40-$60 in ones put on stage... which was much higher then all the other girls who performed also. I was hoping Iw as going to get $100-$250 first place.
Yes I am bitter. I was hitchiking the west coast when I did them and I carried the damn outfit through four states for like $100 a pop it was only barely worth it.

Re: Ameture Nights
oh yeah and the girl who would *arrive* would be very familiar with all the actual clubs dancers

Re: Ameture Nights
Yeah I know, but for a little (and by that i mean little) extra cash its not that bad. And as long as the audience knows that you should have won im cool with being 2nd. That shit always happens to me, but there fun enough to go back to.

Re: Ameture Nights
I used to contests all the time in CA and it is partly true that they are fixed. I have won contests were I didn't know a soul at the club and I've also won at clubs where I knew managers etc.. I never asked anyone to do me favors though. Honestly, you just have to go in and try, you never know. And if you feel it was fixed don't go back (most clubs you can go back after a certain amount of time has passed and do the contest again.).
