seltzer water vs. regular water
Ok, stupid question:
Does seltzer water count twoards water intake? Not to be gross, but you know how your urine gets lighter when you drink a lot of water? Well, that doesn't seem to happen when I drink seltzer water. But seltzer has nothing in it (calories, sugar, sodium). Just wondering/:O...
Re: seltzer water vs. regular water
Seltzer water is carbonated and I would think that is more of a beverage than actual water intake.I prefer straight up water.
Re: seltzer water vs. regular water
Yes, you can tell you are hydrated when your pee is more clear than usual......I learned this when I was in *ahem* marching band......ya......we had to go to disneyworld to march in a parade down there and it was SUPER hot out......our band director told us to make sure and keep ourselves hydrated so we wouldn't pass out in our hot ass polyester outfits......and his specific words were "if you're pee is more clear than yellow, you are more hydrated!"
Re: seltzer water vs. regular water
Thats a good question... I always wondered why drinks like Ice Tea or Coffee didnt count toward water intake when they are made with water... Strange, wish I had an answer... I would think seltzer would count too though... /:O

That's because coffee and tea are diruetics (they dehydrate you).
Seltzer water (which is normally carbonated to some degree) should be consumed in moderation because the carbonation can leach calcium and phosphorous from your bones. Same goes for any carbonated beverage.
