North Jersey
Hi. I was wondering what areas in Jersey were nice to live for a reasonable price..and safe neighborhood ...and a commute to New york that is not too long(40 minutes or less..or i could go an hour). I am just pondering over places I may want to go eventually, and someone had suggested this area.

Well if you don't mind 1hr you should try Centeral NJ. This is where I lived before I moved to NYC. Towns like Edison and, Colonia are nice.

Re: North Jersey
I live in Bergen County and work in Manhattan, it's only a 30 minute commute and most of the areas are very nice. Bergen county is pricy for apartments ranging $1,000+ for a 1 bedroom in the nicer areas.
If you want cheap & close to the city you can try West New York or North Bergen you can get a studio for $750 and there are tons of buses going into the city everyday taking about 20-30 minutes.

Re: North Jersey
In Bayonne you can get a 1 BR apartment for $800 and drive into Staten Island in 5 minutes and Manhattan in 15. On the east side you can see the skyline. It's that close. Check the Jersey Journal or the Bayonne paper for listings. Also consider Kearny/Harrison. The PATH train runs 24 hrs and it's a convenient, fun area with lots of shopping, ethnic restaurants. That whole south Bergen area is a 20 min drive to Manhattan on rt 3 and 20 min on PATH. Check the South Bergenite newspaper and the Record newspaper for listings.

Re: North Jersey
Thanks everyone! I plan on maybe attempting a move after graduation, December 06. I am trying to get the information early to see prices and schedule a saving budget. This is all very good info!
