The Veyron is absolutely gorgeous!!!
There's no other feeling quite like being in the open desert with such a fine tuned piece of machinery.*sigh*
The files are Bit Torrents..... they just had the special Winter Olympics episode of Top Gear, but the next season won't start until probably April or May. FIfth Gear and Top Gear episodes are here.
You need a Bit Torrent client... I use Azureus. You can google search for Azureus.
Ok, I'm going to bed and hopefully sleeping 2 or 3 hours before I leave for work. I hate working the night shift for trauma surgery service. Ugh.

Re: Close-Ups Of The Ferrari Crash.
any high end sports car is like playing with fire. the more horsepower you the have the more heat it generates. Lots of heat = bad news for any engine. so ferraris arent the only high end exotics that have problems. look at even the high end mercedes amgs. problems up the wazoo. if you want a reliable car dont get one with alot of horsepower.

Those little saturns are cute but I want my next car to be German....well, unless I can afford a Ferrari.
Well, maybe I could afford one. This could be me, parking my Ferrari next to my trailer and taking the bus to work when it breaks down. ;D

Here is the ebay auction where I got the pic from. I thought the "buy it now" price was too good to be true. Turns out it is if you read the ad.

Personally, I've hit a low point when it comes to Ferraris. They are GREAT to drive, but they just break down too often. When they do break down, it is somewhat difficult to get parts and repairs.
The guy I have work on mine is a 68 year old little Italian guy who used to work for fiat. He does great work, but he's the only one in the area that does on these cars. As for repairs, the worst I've had so far was a tune-up and belt replacement when the fan belt broke. $6,800.00. I got an earful from my wife that day I can tell you!

Re: Close-Ups Of The Ferrari Crash.
yeah, I don't think you buy a Ferrari because it's reliable.
How often do you drive yours DancerWealth? I sat in a '99 at a dealer and they told me it was Lenny Kravitz car they were selling and he drove it a lot and that is better for it than letting it sit. Is that true or was he just trying to sell me the car?

Re: Close-Ups Of The Ferrari Crash.
Actually, there's some truth to it. The key is to drive it some but not a lot. Ferrari's built in the 80's were actually the best ones they ever built...the 308s and 328s. I'm actually looking at selling mine (a '94 348 for an '89 328 which is a much better car. It won't go nearly as fast but it's just a better design. Once the Testarossa came out along with the sister car, the 348, they all went downhill for about 12 years until the 430 came out which is a much better designed car all the way around. The problem was that they decided to mount the engines in the car weird to maximize on horsepower but to do even the simplist of work on the car requires you to drop the engine out from underneath, do the work, then put the engine back in, re-time it and then retune it. You're talking a tremendous amount of work for even something as simple as a belt replacement which is insane. Their claim was that if you wanted a car to go 190MPH, that was the price you pay.
As for driving time, I put about 250-300 miles on it a month. This keeps everything lubricated, functioning well, and the rubber all stays in good shape. A lot of times you see 308s or 328s on ebay with 30,000 miles on them or less and that's a big problem. While the car may be in great condition, a lot of times you have more problems with the car today because of lack of driving it than you do with any native issues the car may have had. You have the rubber parts wearing out like the seals, buschings, hoses, tires, belts etc. and so you see a lot of people buying these cars only to drive them for 1 or 2 months and then find out they need $6-7000 in maintenance right away to fix all the issues the car has because it sat in a garage for 5 years. Typically with most Ferraris you are supposed to do a minor engine service on them every 8-10,000 miles and a major engine service every 20,000 miles. This is why when you buy one it is important to get the engine service history of the car because it will give you a good indication of how well it's been maintained. A lot has changed in these cars over the last 25 years. In the 80's they were built to be fun and sexy with not much power under the hood (most modern factory Mustangs or Eclipses will beat a Ferrari 328 in 0-60) and then came the 90's where Ferrari went with sexy AND speed to catch up to the popularity of Lamborghini. Once mine is running well, it will easily do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and will top out at about 185 and it's a V8, not the V12 Testarossa which is much heavier. While it has the same 0-60, the 512TR will get you to max speed a lot faster. Both of those, plus the 355 and 360 were not well built cars. They had tons of electrical problems, engine issues (as mentioned before), intake problems, steering problems, etc. I can speak first hand when I tell you that if I got in the same wreck that this Enzo did in the photo, I'd be dead. No question about. Ferrari's of the 90's were paper-thin death traps that had huge engines on light-weight frames. Personally, I'm amazed they ever passed safety regulations. I've heard the new Lotus' are going through the same issue right now. They are death-traps on 4 wheels.
Now comes in the new era of exotics after the year 2000...the F50/F40, the 430, and the Enzo are all extremely powerful cars with much more thinking and technology behind them. They are a lot more comfortable, safer, and better engineered. They STILL put crappy sound systems in them but hey, who cares about that. I actually was talking to a guy at a gas station not long ago filling up his 430 and I asked him how he liked it. He first said he was glad he didn't spend the extra $15K on the paddle shifters (which is common...most people who get the upgrade hate it as driving with the stick is much more exhilerating) but then he went on to say that for the money, you would think they would put a good sound system in the car. While I agree with him on a basic level, my response was, "You know, in mine I've never turned the stereo on once. The sound of the engine is the best music I'll ever hear in that car" and he smiled. You can say anything you want about other exotics, but when you hear the roar of that engine, there is just nothing like it on earth.

exactly! I just love the sound of a Ferrari. I could just sit in one and rev the engine. It gives me shivers!
When I lived with my parents I heard this sound like cars coming from my bedroom one day. My dad was in there listening to a CD of Ferraris racing on my stereo.
I seem to have heard somewhere (probably from my dad) that the old 308's were cars that would run well forever. I never knew much beyond that. I know his friend bought one with a paddle shift and I don't understand that. Part of the fun to me would be shifting it.
