Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
I noticed other post about the strip clubs in Phoenix being dirty. I guess I just wasn't prepared. I've only danced twice before at a club with 6inch air dance rule. For $20 a dance. Unfortunately that club closed down due to their lease expiring. I couldn't find another upscale club like that one in my area so I stopped dancing.
Due to financial hardhsip I decided to give it another go but in Phoenix. I live in the Los Angeles area. Anyway, so I tried what is known as the busiest and best club in Phoenix.
It was horrible. The staff was really cool and friendly but the girls get down. Upon arrival I noticed the high, high contact of the dancers on the floor. It didn't even occur to meet what could go down in the VIP.
I auditioned and was hired. So I started making rounds. Even talking to the customers deemed uncomfortable because they kept trying to touch me. >:( So then I thought I won't sit I'll just ask them standing up if they wanted a dance.
I can see how girls make money, men approached me to dance with them. I went to the VIP with one dude who was extra chatty. I danced for him for 4 songs. I never once stopped dancing. He said he had to go back to his friends. He then gave me a 20. I said I believed it was 20 per song. He tells me the VIP is a 20 dollar flat rate. And also that I didn't do "enough". I eventually handled the scandle and got my $80.
Every customer b*****ed I didn't do enough. "Don't be afraid" "come a lil closer" "sit on it". Then they would get the nearest dancer and get a dancer from her. And she got down. Full on dry sex everywhere. :ill:
After the last :censored: customer I danced for kept trying to do lil jumps out of his chair so i could feel his u know. I was decidedly done.
I didn't even want to give another lap dance.
Why do girls do allow and do high contact?!! Prostitution and dancing are so different. But now I understand how people view dancer's as prostitutes. I've never witnessed such high contact. It sucks but I can't fight every night with these men. I worked sober. I'd have to be out of my head(drunk or high) to deal. And what kind of pride could I have in a profession if I had to do all that.
Good luck girls!! It was fun but I guess I got a dose of reality and that ish was horrible. Simply not worth it. :-[
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
You can thank the girls that find nothing wrong with high contact making girls like us feel more than uncomfortable. It's good that you have that self worth.Sorry about your horrific night.
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
there are a lot of clubs that aren't like that.
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
I think a lot of professions where the worker is forced into physical contact with people in exchange for money have these feelings. The experts call it "compartmentailizing" whatever that means. I take it to mean that you just learn to deal.
Doctors, dentists, massage therapisits, phyical therapists, beauticians, nurses, and other medical professionals are forced to have physical contact with people to make a living. I'm sure that sometimes they would rather not, and probably in some cases are repulsed by some of the people they come in contact with. The people may be mean, nasty and rude, but they are expected to keep a professional air, and "just do their job".
Another set of careers that require compartmentalization is law enforcement and military jobs. These people see the worst of humanity and horrors that most of us would prefer to go through our lives and never have to see or expeirence.
Luckily, when I became a dancer the contact level was zero. It gradually got heavier and heavier, and I was able to adjust gradually to what we do today. I learned gradually how to put up sheilds and barriers. Sometimes I imagine that I am dancing for my husband or a past crush or something. I imagine that I am helping the person I'm dancing for to feel better emotionally, and giving him/her human contact when he/she probably has little or none in his/her life.
I can only handle the demand of physical contact for so long. I work 3 weeks then take 2 weeks off. Lately I've been working in an air dance state, so it is a lot easier to go in everynight. But the lazy side of me sometimes wishes I could give more contact, because it makes the dances easier to sell :-X .
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
I have been to a few clubs in Phoenix since I got here. And girl you seriously must be hitting the dives because the contact here is NOTHING. Yea you might be on the guys lap but he can not touch you, you can not grind and I havnt really noticed grinding here much and your tits can not get near his face. If your willing to go nude I recomend Le(s?) Girls. Also Christies(its only topless) is supposed to be really good and great money. I know I dont know much about Phoenix clubs since i've only been here less then a week but they seriously do not seem to be anything compared to what i've seen in Canada, but when your not used to contact I guess it can be bad. I have only seen a few clubs here, so far the worse one I have stepped into is Bandaids, my god that place was a dive. I've heard girls talk about a lot of clubs around here though...
No matter where you go you will get guys pushing you for more, its just what happens in this industry. If you cant handle it then maybe dancing is not for you. I am sorry to hear it didnt work out for you though. It sucks when you hear another girl got out of it because of the jerks you dance for :(
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
oh god I hate when the guys try to touch you or even yet when you are just sitting there chatting with them not dancing they try to rub your leg or something, it makes me literally sick to my stomach. One guy kept trying to do this to me after I kept pushing him off politely I got so sick of it I didn't even want to bother to do anymore more dances so I left him & seriously felt like I was going to puke.

Ditto. Sorry you had such a hard time.
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
I'm sorry that you had to deal with this... unfortunately, it is becoming an all-too-familiar situation. As frustrating as it is, it's reality. I second OTB's sentiment - as long as girls continue to enter the industry, willing to give a level of contact that constitutes "dry sex," things will get progressively more difficult for those of us who refuse to do such.
I truly, cannot wait to get out. It's just getting worse and more vulgar with time.
Good luck with everything.

why? because it's a lot easier to sell a reality than a fantasy. Selling a $20 grind is easier than selling a $20 "intimate moment". Lazy dancers ruined it.
But, it sounds like you worked at a club that has a reputation of being a grind place and employs a bunch of those lazy dancers that find it easier to simulate sex acts than provide any intellectual entertainment. Guys probably go in there expecting it and scoff at clubs like mine.....where they will ask, "how do you girls make any money?" as if all customers are like them. Luckily, they are not.
You sound bright and introspective. Don't judge the profession based on this club. If you want out, I understand. It's difficult to deal with guys treating you like a hooker (and for $20 to boot) when you have a lot more to offer.
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
I'm curious, are you ready to get outta early retirement?!
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
what club was this? PM me if you don't want it on the boards... sorry about your bad experience. don't let it stop you from making money though, just find another club. :-)
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
Yeah, good luck girl, and good for you fot trying anyway! Try somewhere else, and don't worry - even the dirtiest clubs do have clean, respectable girls making $! Seriously - give it another go, maybe elsewhere!
Re: Hated it!! I'm officially retired!!
That's weird. There is not that much contact in Phoenix clubs. Phoenix is much tamer than many cities. You ARE going to experience guys ANYWHERE who will try to see how far you will go with them, and in most clubs you will have to allow some touching. And the clientele varies from day to day in every club. So called "dry sex" or grinding and butt rubbing is really what a lap dance entails. Of course some girls "rub" and "grind" longer than others. Dances are harder to sell with no contact. Guys don't want them.
You really need to see deep down if stripping is for you.
