flat iron - straightener?
hey girls. i know you guys use flat irons. :P my hair is very curly, but i have recently started straighening it when i feel like it. the flat iron i have is one of those coated ceramic ones, so it doesn't work as well as the 100% ceramic plate types. a girl i work with has one of the 100% plated expensive ones and it works fantastic (she lets me use it) but she got it years ago and i can't find the brand now. what brand and type of flat iron do you have and would you recommend? i tried looking for one on my own, but there are TONS of brands out there, so i'd like some opinions. thanx so much. :-*
Re: flat iron - straightener?
The Chi is the best one in my opinion. If you can not find a Chi go to the salon and ask them what they think is best. In flat irons you get what you pay for, trust me i've gone through about 6 shitty cheap ones before breaking down and getting an expencive one :D
Re: flat iron - straightener?
I have a Jilbere ceramic iron. It costa bout $80-100 depending on where you get it, and it's amazing. But I do think the CHI is better than anything out there...and its costs it.

Re: flat iron - straightener?
i was actually looking on ebay, just needed brand info to help narrow it down a bit.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
Oh there was this one with red plates that my friend had that worked AMAZINGLY... wtf was it...grrrr... >_<
Re: flat iron - straightener?
i bought the SEDU ionic straightener- japanese brand - works wonders literally
is made from aerospace material ,ceramic and tourmaline , the plates are two black shiny mirrors
i have thick wavy hair very resistant to iron tools but this one takes one swip and is flat like a linguini!!!!!! u can buy it from folica.com
is rated the best in the market

i highly recommend it and they have a return refund policy if u dont like and send it back within a month
Re: flat iron - straightener?
the ionic ones blow the regular ceramics out of the water.
I have a T3 Tourmaline and a CHI and I always reach for the T3.
It makes my hair feel so soft at the ends, I can straighten when it's slightly wet, it's faster, and my hair is growing faster than it ever has before (which means less breakage).
I got it from Sephora...it's awesome!
Re: flat iron - straightener?
What is this CHI? I'm intrigued...I have a GHD, which I love. Nothing else has come *close* to straightening my rather thick and curly hair!
Re: flat iron - straightener?
I use a T3 like Emily and while it's expensive (like $200!) it's the best I've ever used. I like it so much I bought the curling iron and hairdryer too. They all leave your hair super soft and shiny.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
hmmm...I'd often wondered about the T3...glad to read some good reviews on it here. I'm getting ready to upgrade my iron and was probably going to get the CHI but now I may give serious thought to the T3.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
definitely consider the T3!
I want their blowdrier too...but that's another $200. it's supposed to be incredible.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
do they have the t3 at sephora???? i think i wanna get it...

I think it was an older model CHI...I worked with a girl who had one and yes it was amazing.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
I just got the T3 and so far I love it. I still use a CHI at home on my own hair but my clients are my guinea pigs!! I use the CHI dryer and probably won't switch. It's really quiet and you can't beat that when there are 9 hairdryers going at the same time.
If you are going to flat iron every day I reccomend a good heat-resistant fixative. I like Redken Anti-snap or Aveda's Brilliant Damage Control. It's a leave in spray. Works wonders.

I absolutely HATED the curling iron T3 I bought for 200. Does not keep a style at all in my hair.
The t3 flat iron rocks though.
Re: flat iron - straightener?
I love the Chi flat iron. My hair is straight naturally, but when I want to be stick straight this is what I use. It was totally worth the money I paid for it! I am looking for a good curling iron now though. My hair is impossible to hold a curl, even with a pound of hairspray in it!
Suggestions?
Re: flat iron - straightener?
I've always used the like $40 Conair ones, one with a comb thing built in and one without....I noticed a BIG difference when I switched to ceramic coated ones, I should try ceramic PLATES or the T3 one instead!
Re: flat iron - straightener?
^^I had the Conair steam one with the combs...what a waste of money! Nothing but frizz/damage!
This thread has inspired me to buy a flat iron...sick of my waves, lol.
