Removing Bonding Glue - GREASY HAIR!
Oh no!
I've had the greatest experience doing my own extensions. I bought some human hair from Sally's, along with some bonding glue to put it in, and I've received nothing but compliments. No tugging or problems with pieces falling out, and I've washed my hair every other day for the past three weeks I've had the extensions with few problems.
Unfortunately, the lifespan of the hair I bought isn't very long- the poor girl who grew it apparently had a problem with split ends. So today, I removed it using the oil they sell at Sally's alongside the bonding glue. My real hair is still in super-great condition- the oil allowed me to pretty much massage out the extensions as well as any excess glue.
Unfortunately, after multiple shampoos, my hair is still EXTREMELY greasy. I've tried using 3 different shampoos, one of which is a clarifying shampoo, and the grease won't budge! I'm afraid that shampooing any more is going to take off my scalp. :*(
Anyone have any experience with this? I was hoping to work tonight, but chances aren't looking great right now...
Re: Removing Bonding Glue - GREASY HAIR!
I had the same problem removing my extensions the first time. Try putting baby powder on your roots and rubbing it in to soak up some of the oil. Keep using the clarifying shampoo, but only on your roots- if you keep using the clarifying shampoo on all of your hair it will get dried out. I had to wash my hair 5 or 6 times to get all the oil out, so it will take a couple more washings, but the baby powder should help speed up the process.
Re: Removing Bonding Glue - GREASY HAIR!
i personally found out (by accident) that brilliant brunette smoothing cream makes the best bond softener for removing hair glue.
but since you already have a greasy head problem, try dishwashing soap. it'll cut the grease right out.
Re: Removing Bonding Glue - GREASY HAIR!
Do to the hairstore/sallys and get bond remover. It's in a white bottle with red cap. It will take the glue out, and not damage your hair, nor will it tangle.

Phew. Thanks, CinammonKisses.
I had purchased the remover oil AND the remover shampoo that you mentioned, but only used the remover shampoo once last night. Assuming those products had caused the greasiness, I was trying to get rid of the greasiness by using my other shampoos last night.
Now that my hair's all better, here's what I think happened: The oil not only helped loosen the wefts, but also dissolved the bonding glue, leaving me with a greasy mess that's more sticky than oily. Most of the stickiness is dissolved glue, not oil, so regular shampoo doesn't work to get it out. I shampooed my hair 5 times last night with regular shampoos that didn't fix the problem, but when I tried the bond removing shampoo this morning the greasiness was gone in two washes, presumably because it got rid of all the dissolved glue in my hair.
I have little to no damage to my real hair, even after washing it a gazillion times. Good stuff!
