my first facial...
So on Friday a gal at my daytime job talked me into going and treating myself to a facial. So I booked one at a well know spa in the area.
The facial started out great, very relaxing and calming. She did a O2 treatment which burned a little bit but not much...then she says it's time for extraction. i've had some trouble with my skin breaking out since I stopped taking birth control. She said I have large pores, which I do, and that I would benefit from some extraction to unclog them. OMG it hurt! and Im usually one tough cookie. So the only problem I had was I initially came in with a pimple on my cheek that was new and painful. I figured she wouldn't mess with it since it was new and inflammed but she did, and I almost rolled off the table!
So when I was done I looked in the mirror and I looked like a 14 yr old going through puberty with a sever case of acne! She said the O2 treatment would clear it up by the next day so I decided to go home and not leave the house. Well yesterday I had a cage fight to go to and it didn't look any better! I felt like everyone was looking at my broke out face. Thank goodness they are starting to heal....will be a long time before I get another facial or just tell them to SKIP the extraction...

Re: my first facial...
Your skin broke out because the skin isn't used to the extraction. It does get better when you're more used to it.I love extractions.

Re: my first facial...
ha...ha...ha, i knew that was gonna happen. im sure my face would have looked a heck of alot better with that kind of facial and not the one i got!!! I'll keep that in mind OTB but I don't think she should have tried to extract on a brand new pissed off pimple. Everywhere else looks good

Re: my first facial...
I haven't had a facial yet but I just got someone's name who is supposed to do good ones. So is extraction when they dig the crap out of your pores? Does it look better in a couple of days? I don't know what to tell her to do.

Re: my first facial...
Depending on the spa technician, some use their fingers to extract.Your skin looks radiant after a couple days.

Re: my first facial...
My very fair skin is super sensitive and so I can't handle a facial. My experience with them was pretty similar to Schea's .
If others reading this have fair , sensitive skin I REALLY wouldn't recommend trying a facial .

Re: my first facial...
Extractions hurt, and can hurt more if the esthetician isn't very skilled. A good esthetician knows which zits to pop and which to leave alone. But regular visits to a facialist really do help your skin clear up.

Re: my first facial...
Ok I might be wrong here, but I heard that you're never supposed to let them do extractions when you get a facial because it can cause scarring and can push bacteria farther into your skin and cause more breakouts- same reasons you're not supposed to pick at your breakouts. Am I wrong? I've never gotten a facial so I don't really know how they do it, but do they have a special way of doing it that doesn't cause scarring? I have a lot of scars on my face from picking at pimples when I was younger, so I'd be nervous going to get a facial done and letting them do extractions.

Re: my first facial...
If done right, extractions are just that. They take away impurities and build-up.

Re: my first facial...
My skin doesn't really break out, unless I do photo shoots where I have on thick makeup all day. So would it really be worth it for me to start getting facials even if I only break out maybe once a month at the most?
I don't want to spend money on anything I don't really need, but I feel like if I go to a spa or anything like that they will try and "sell" me on something.
