i just want to get some opinions on this..
i did my friend's extensions for free. she paid only for the hair, which was about 93 bucks. this took around 7 hours, and if she went to a salon to get the same thing it would cost no less than 3-400 and up to 1000 or more.
she had forgotten to bring the money for the hair the day we did it. so she said she would bring it the next day. never showed. this happened twice more. so today she comes over, we hung out for a while and she handed me some money. i didn't count it then. after she left i counted it, she had given me a total of $120.00. so after paying me back for the hair, she gave me approximately 27 bucks for a tip.
now this girl is a dancer, and she makes very decent money. the day we were doing her hair, she was telling me how the night before, she met a guy at work who paid her $800 to hang out with him.
now. i know i offered to do it for free, but i totally felt confident that she would give me a decent tip, considering how much money she makes (not to mention how much money she was saying she had made just the night before!) and also considering how much money she would be saving even if she gave me say, a hundred bucks, instead of paying a salon anywhere from $300-1000.
i don't know, i just feel like she took advantage of the situation...i did another friend's hair for free, and she could not even buy the hair so i bought it for her. i did not expect any tip from her b/c she did not have a job or anything.
so what do you guys think? i can't decide if i should say something to her about it, or just forget it. it was after all, a free service that i offered to do to get the experience under my belt. but like i said i just feel like it was shady of her.
