A Little Inspiration For The Bad Nights?
Last night could have easily been a bad night for me, but I caught myself and turned it around. I got off to a slow start. I got a weird vibe from the crowd. Got a dance here or there but nothing to spectacular. Even after I got off main stage.
Then I sat with a guy for awhile and finally got him to want to get 3 dances for $100. After my first song with him, I heard my name being called onstage. I guess some girls got skipped and I was thrown on there. it wasn't even my music so I was off all over the place. My mistake? I didn't have the guy pay up front. So as I was dancing onstage, I watched him walk out of the club. He stiffed me. I never got the money from him for the one dance I did do.
At first I was really upset. There was nothing management could do. My friend was with the guy's friend and he refused to pay up for his friend. My friend lucked out (with a lot of hard work) and got $1000 out of him for the entire night. It took me awhile to bounce back. It's hard to not take those situations personally.
Luckily, my night did turn around. Got a big party in and did a ton of dances. Then my friend who spent the shift with the friend of the guy who walked out on me gave me $30 at the end of the night. I wasn't expecting that. If anything, it's nice to know that there are people who have your back.
I strongly believe in karma. :)
And lesson learned? Try to get the money upfront. Unless the guy has been taking care of you, then it's probably safe. I guess the same guy who stiffed me stiffed another girl the week before.
Re: A Little Inspiration For The Bad Nights?
That pisses me off. The same thing happened to me once. It was dead and I did $100 worth of dances. The guy had to go to the atm (which was by the front door... which is just a really stupid idea). I went with him but the DJ called me up onstage. I told the doorguy how much the dude owed me and to get it from him before he left. I go on stage, I go to the door guy to get my money. He says, what? Oh, I thought he paid you. He did NOT think I paid him! The door guy was just this puny asian kid who got hired as a favor for one of his friends who was a bouncer. He was either afraid to do anything or just completely stupid and not doing his job. I WAS SOOO INCREDIBLY PISSED!
