Re: Help an older newbie?
Marvin Gaye - "Sexual Healing", or maybe "The Ecology"
En Vogue - "Don't Let Go"
Stevie Ray Vaughn - "Pride And Joy"
Jimi Hendrix - "Foxy Lady"
Santana is good - he's classic... but I'd maybe stick to his "solo" stuff, and not his collaboration stuff
You could probably do some of the more moderate Prince numbers as well (but PLEASE, I beg you, in the name of all that is holy, no "Pussy Control"... I will scream if I ever hear that song in a strip joint again)
Just throwing some ideas out there.

Re: Help an older newbie?
And if you do want to dance to "Brick House, Rob Zombie redid it with Lionel Richie and a little rap from Trina in the middle. Same beat, just a little heavier.
Re: Help an older newbie?
Mr.C beat me to it again, lol...
The "Brick House" remix would be perfect!
There's a remix/cover of the old classic "Wish Upon a Star" with Cypress Hill adding a powerful funk groove that would be perfect for you, but how easy it is to download I don't know, and it's not commonly found in DJs' collections.
I just woke up so give me a little time, maybe I can think of something good for you.
That "Shake That Ass Forever" song by Mannie Fresh might work well for you--it's a souped up but still smooth version of an old Keith Sweat song, and a white girl could pull it off easily, especially if you've figured out how to do that already, lol...
Good luck! And please give us an update on the audition...
Re: Help an older newbie?
Thanks ya'll! Especially the "Brick House" remix - so awesome!
Okay - so how's this for a set - Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" and the Bump and Grind song ....don't know who sings it - you all know it...."I don't see nothin wrong...in a little bump and grind..." both are kind of slow, which might be a good and safe thing for me. I'm sure I'll be nervous, so slower music will help me be slinky, instead of bouncy...
DJoser - yeah, I've figured out the ass shake - but need some more practice before I make any promises to "Shake that Ass Forever"
If ya'll think of anything else, I'll check back in a couple hours - gotta go get my dress - I feel like I just won a trip to Disney World - so EXCITING!!!
Re: Help an older newbie?
That's R. Kelly.
If you want something just as sexy but a bit more powerful, try "Steelo" by 702. it's a real winner! And not overplayed, not in my area.
Later--well, let's hear it! How'd it go? I'm sitting here on my night off, getting ready to go out, and thinking you are possibly at this very moment taking the stage. I hope you knock 'em dead...
