Due to some personal issues and depression, I've been having a bad week. Finally, at the end of last night, I struck up a conversation with a guy who was genuinely cute, interesting, funny, and just pleasant to talk to. It's the only time I've ever been asked out for breakfast after work and really wanted to go. (Today is my bf's birthday, though, so I had to come home and get some sleep.) He had promised another girl a dance, but left her and came to talk to me some more instead. After just a few minutes of talking to this guy, my mood and outlook improved considerably.
So the "last call for dances" came up just before we closed, and the guy decided he wanted a VIP first. We would've had a wonderful time, but the manager refused to take his credit card because he'd already closed out the credit card machine. Excuse me?! I was so angry and embarrassed! Both the customer and I kept trying to persuade him to open it again - closing after one transaction would NOT take more than a minute - but he refused. Bewildered, the guy left and took his $150 with him, and this morning got a plane home to New York.
I was FURIOUS. I went home last night with $90, and it would've been $190 if the manager wasn't being such a tool. I went to him and complained and finally he said he'd open it, but of course the guy was already gone. I got into the dressing room to change and go home, and it turns out three other girls had had the same problem.
I love this club, but every once in awhile management does something like this. It was absolutely galling. That guy could've really turned a horrible night around, and here he's treated like this! What is this mindset? What kind of club turns away paying customers half an hour before closing time??
