Re: work after abortion????
First off, take care of yourself and I hope you're doing well. You should really be taking it easy this weekend; I think at least a week off is a good idea. You really, really don't want to be inserting anything in your vagina for two weeks. You may need the money now, but think about how much worse it would be if you were out even longer due to an infection or other complications. I personally took a week and a half off; I was fortunate enough to have money and a good support network, though. Now's the time to call on yours!
Take good care.
Re: work after abortion????

I AGREE WITH SUSAN. PLEASE TRY TO NOT INSERT ANYTHING IN THERE BECAUSE THE RISK OF INFECTION IS SO HIGH AND I KNOW YOU WOULDN'T LIKE TO GO THROUGH THAT. TRUST ME I KNOW TIMES GET ROUGH, BUT YOU'RE THE MOST IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW. RELAX MA AND LET YOUR BODY HEAL. BLESSING AND HEALTH TO YOU!
Re: work after abortion????
Don't rush back - it's better to take the time off now rather than risk infection. Ie infection will only result in more time off. rest up, look after yourself!!!
Re: work after abortion????
I didn't have an abortion, but I did have a D&C after a miscarriage...and I was sternly told to relax. It doesn't SEEM like a "big deal" type procedure...but in an abortion/D&C they gently scrape away the lining of the uterus. It doesn't look like a lot but it's only because it's internal. You are not supposed to pick up heavy items, stay off your feet for as long as possible and just allow your body to heal. If you go back to work, it is very taxing on every aspect of your body. You could actually cause more harm than good. While you would have made some money, you may not. I know when I had my D&C, if I over-exerted myself in the first 3-4 days, I got some wicked cramps. Not fun.
Take care of yourself...the docs tell you to take it easy and all for a reason.
Also, putting a tampon in is not a good idea. In fact, I was told that I could not use tampons for at LEAST one cycle AFTER my D&C. You may think it's just bleeding, but your body is actually doing a "flush" and anything that was left in there after the procedure should be allowed a free out.
Again, take care of yourself. Your health and well-being are so much more important, right now.
Re: work after abortion????
No vaginal intercourse or inserting anything into the vagina for one week after the abortion. Your cervix is opened via dilation and takes a little time to close again. Putting anything into your vagina can introduce bacteria which then can travel or be pushed into your uterus opening you up to uterian and fallopian infections.
Re: work after abortion????
i had an abortion about 3/4 years ago, and i had really big blood clots for like a week or 2 afterwards and they would just come out from nowhere...it was nothing even a jumbo tampon could hold. so i wouldnt work in your position because, along with risk of infection, a tampon wont hold the amount of blood your releasing and that would really suck for a blood clot to come out on stage or something. i know its gross but mine were just that bad from what i remember. the other girls are right...always put your health first.
Re: work after abortion????
I was wondering if the rule about not inserting anything in there for 2 weeks. Does it have to do strictly with the risk of infection or are there other risks as well? My friend just had an abortion and ha sex the next day- Does impact right after the procedure cause scarring etc...?
Re: work after abortion????
I honestly don't know how you could go to work anytime soon after. I had mine on the 9th and I'm still bleeding a fair amount, and yeah, the blood clots are the worst. I definitely wouldn't want to be working when that happens heh.
I hope the bleeding ends soon. :-\

I think whether the wait time is 1 week or 2 has to do with how far along you have it done. The farther along you are the wider they have to dilate your cervix to perform the procedure the longer it takes for it to close again.
As far as I know the main concern is with infection. I'd assume that a uterine infection of any kind could run the rick of causing infection and affecting fertility in the future. An infection in the fallopian tubes is just bad news as far as fertility goes.
I had one done when I was 23. I seem to remember bleeding for quite awile and having clotting (which as someone mentioned earlier can't be dealt with with a tampon).
Your health present and future is a lot more important than money. :) Better safe than sorry and all that jazz...

Venus, that baby-gaga thing is sooooCUTE!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS:-)
Re: work after abortion????
I've worked at a clinic. You definitely don't want to put ANYTHING in your vagina for at least a week. Your cervix will be opened (as mentioned) so you could risk infection.
Re: work after abortion????
ok i did this and i did go back to work after it.. i dont recommened you do it.. i got an infection from the tampon and had to go back into hospital not good news at all!
Re: work after abortion????
Rest! Relax, eat ice cream, watch TV. Sleep, take your meds and vitamins. Drink plenty of water. Keep yourself hydrated!

Wow, yall sound pretty nonchalant about this... props I guess for not being sad.
Re: work after abortion????
^ Well, since she didn't ask about our FEELINGS on the subject, we didn't give them.
Re: work after abortion????
I'm not saying anything about abortion, I'm just glad she seems to be ok and well-adjusted. That's a good thing to be. =)
Re: work after abortion????
DON'T go back to work yet. I had a D&C last July from a miscarriage too, and I was so sick for more than a week I almost never got out of bed. The blood was way more than a tampon could handle. Rest rest rest...
Re: work after abortion????
Rest, rest, rest.
Even though you may feel physically fine, your body has gone through a lot of stress. You don't want to end up getting sicker- you have to take time off, period.
I worked at a clinic and I saw more women with infections that were preventable (not having sex, not using tampons, and yes- taking time off).
Re: work after abortion????
I don't know if this is similar, but a girl I worked with had a baby and went back to work too soon. I guess after you give birth you can't wear tampons for a certain amount of time, and she wore a tampon so she could go back to work and got a really bad infection. So if this is a similar situation, I would also suggest not going back to work too soon, because she was out of work even longer because of her infection. She would have been better off just waiting the extra time before going back to work in the first place.
Re: work after abortion????
I would advise you to rest, after I miscarried I bled to the point of flooding for a month(couldn't leave the house was very poorly) and couldnt return to work for four months, its a major thing to go through labour/ a loss- Please please let yourself heal properly hun
