Re: I AM a medical circus!
damnit. I have to have strong shit.
I noticed with Ambien , I had bad some memory loss in general, my mood swings were a bit more to take on and I got depressed easier.
But being able to fall asleep when i want to makes me look past that stuff.
Im sorry to hear about your troubles , the entire thing sounds frightening. It reminds me of that tales from the crypt episode where they go inside a mans brain after he dies., he could see..smell and feel everything but couldnt respond.
Re: I AM a medical circus!
Ambien made me hallucinate. It was hilarious.
I saw this absolutely stunning elven faerie city with shimmering diamond, emerals and crystal cathedrals and points of light resembling faeries. I also saw them working on building the entire city from materials as pecious stones. I saw this all happening... in my husband's armpit. o.O;
And there was the time with the toy trains running along the walls. >_>
Re: I AM a medical circus!
Yup. Ambien made me trip too. So did Sonata. Wild, man. ;D
Re: I AM a medical circus!
I have a friend who took Ambien for a while and for one reason or another thought it was a good idea to drive his car to go to the store. Obviously he crashed it, but the next morning he woke up wondering who the hell stole his car. Poor guy. Needless to say he is no longer on Ambien, they switched him to Lunesta.
Paige, have you noticed a difference as far as the Effexor is concerned? They gave it to me for a while with a combo of other drugs, but I was still awake. Never figured out if any one drug helped me overall, they just said screw this combination, we're going to start over. Blah. I feel your pain girl.

Actually, the Effexor helps my brain stop going in overdrive when I need to sleep. My OCD makes me dwell on unanswered questions, loos of songs, etc... the Effexor quiets all that down. I love it. And it doesnt give me the weight gain that Lexapro did.
Re: I AM a medical circus!
Watch it with Ambien.....weird shit can happen if you don't go right to bed. Trust me on this.......................
I still take it though, I would rather take a pill and know I will sleep and be able to function the next day then struggle with insomnia and feel like a freakshow after not sleeping for a week.
Re: I AM a medical circus!
Well the medicine that the nerologist rescribed didnt work. Well, I dunno if if worked. It made my sleeping and OCD meds not work so I didnt sleep much at all to see if it stopped the sleep paralysis... *sigh*
So now its on to something else, the doctor doesnt want to try the GHB if he doesnt have to.
So I look this new stuff up?
Also used by vets.
Yeah....
/:O

Re: I AM a medical circus!
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic.
GHB isn't mentioned as such a compound, at least not in non-medical information on the topic. I have seen GHB mentioned in that category in some medical texts though, so maybe...
Re: I AM a medical circus!
^^^ Nuh uh, Clomipramine. I had heard of it before, but never knew that it was also used on cats and dogs.
Re: I AM a medical circus!
Paige,
Have you tried Hydroxzine? Also known as 'Atarax'. It is an antihistamine but it works for anxiety and insomnia as well. It makes you feel really drowsy. I have been on so many sleeping pills, and hate taking them but I have really bad insomnia. The atarax makes you feel pretty drowsy in the morning but if you take 50-75 milligrams it will knock you out.
I hope you find something that works soon.
Re: I AM a medical circus!
My ex and my dog are actually taking the same medication right now. She takes 10 mg and he takes 150. But it's something for anxiety so it's not that. I think its Amatryptaline or something. I don't know if it's working though. My dog is still eating her tail and my ex is still having problems.
I hope you figure out what works for you. I have insomnia but not that bad. Sometimes I lay in bed and no matter how tired I am I just can't shut my mind off.
