A problem with my paycheck appearing to be double what is actually received.
This is a relatively new job for me, and I'm currently paid once a month. I've noticed my last two paychecks indicate I've been paid double what I've actually been paid for the month, including paying double into the various tax and other deductions. My boss told me a while ago our paychecks would eventually be changed to once every two weeks. My last two checks have indicated the pay period is for the last two weeks of each month instead of the entire month. There is still only one check per month.
I'll ask my boss about this tomorrow, as the only time I normally see him is Fridays. However, if he can't get it corrected, should I write a letter to ADP, who processes our checks? Never having had this problem before, what's the best way to have the problem corrected? Or will a CPA and an attorney be needed to get this mess corrected? Thank you.
Re: A problem with my paycheck appearing to be double what is actually received.
Sounds like something that needs to be taken up with HR. If I am not mistaken, ADP only cuts checks off of the info that HR (or whatever payroll dept you have) sends them.
But, either way, it doesn't make sense that your checks are showing such obvious erronous amounts. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Let me know what the outcome is, though.
Re: A problem with my paycheck appearing to be double what is actually received.
The first question really relates to the actual pay - is it correct? The stub issues are memo accounts and can be fixed by ADP with the assistance of either your company's payroll person and/or their outside accountant.
If the pay is correct, then what you need to confirm is that the memo information is correct. Until it is corrected, keep copies of the full stubs for recreation of actual facts should your W2 be incorrect.
You shouldn't have to involve anyone other than payroll and ADP. If the pay is incorrect and you get the feeling that something wrong is happening, feel free to contact me and I will try to help you via phone or email.

Most interaction of a company and ADP happens over a special client app or a web site these days.
I think you need to take it up with the HR department - ADP is not going to go screwing around with the books of their customer over someone they don't even know.
