Am I too old to start dancing?
Hi! I'm new here and wanted to get the inside scoop on stripping. My first question is am I too old to strip? I'm 27 but look like I'm in my early 20's. I'm in pretty good shape for having my first baby 11 months ago. I'm 5'3 and 120 lbs. I've always been somewhat of an exhibitionist and love giving lap dances/striptease for my husband, who thinks I'm a natural at it. He's actually convinced I use strip before we met and that I just haven't told him. Which I never have. Anyway, my hubby thinks its ok if I try it out or do an amatuer night. How do some of your husbands feel about you dancing?
Also, one last question. Would I get hired even though I have braces on my teeth? My teeth are completly straight I'm just have them to correct an overbite, which thanks to braces is pretty much gone and unnoticable. (I get them off sometime this year. Yeah!) My husband actually think it might be a turn on for some men, lol. I don't know?
Thanks!
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
One of the very hottest dancers I have ever worked with was ten years older than you--though she looked about 27-30.
She would give me every dollar she made onstage, since she did so well in VIP and she liked me as a DJ--every time I put her up I'd get a gigantic pile of ones dumped over the ledge of the booth, lol.
This means the customers most definitely liked her...
So yes, you are at a great age to dance!
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
most women get better at dancing as they get older. They're more focused on what they want, have better defined boundaries, and don't put up with as much bullshit. Also, since your identity is already probably pretty strongly set up by that point, then I don't think you'd face the temptation in most of the pitfalls that the dancing industry has.
I don't think 27 is too old at all, and it sounds like you've got the right attitude, body, and support from your husband to do it. Just watch out because your body probably won't bounce back as quickly as a younger woman's, so pick the right shoes and be really in tune with what your body is telling you so you don't fuck up your body.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
Plenty of terrific dancers that age or older. Nice, too, that your hubby is supportive of this plan.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
And about the braces, most men don't mind, and some might be turned on. So yeah, go for it! The top earner at my club is older and has braces.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
27 is not too old at all!!!! The braces will probably make you appear even younger, LOL! But yeah I am 24, and the top earners are both 26, two other girls who do very well are 29, and we even have a girl who is 35 and BANKS. She is VERY fit, and does not look her age though. Your age should not be a problem, we've had girls with braces at my club, but I don't know if every club would be ok with them. Just remember that your hustle is far more important than your age, which is not even old!
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I know a lot of girls who didnt start dancing till their late 20's. Its just a sterotype that all strippers are in their late teens early twenties. So if you can do it go for it. As for braces... I just had mine taken off last month. Braces are no problem. Good luck :D
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
Thanks everyone for your advice! I really appreciate it. I'm a bad judge of peoples ages, so when I've gone to strip clubs in the past with my husband most of the girls look really young which made me feel old. But being 27, I am more comfortable with myself and my body then what I was when I was in my late teens and early 20's. I guess dancing is something I need to think about a little longer before I take the plunge.
This website is awesome!
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
LoL the lighting in a SC hides all your flaws.. and makes you look younger. I love it :D
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I dont think that you are too old. With age comes maturity. You may do better than younger girls, cuz you will treat this as a job and focus on making more consistent money.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I would think again about whether you really want to do this. You are not too old in terms of the way you look - there are plenty lovely 27 year old women (I'm older than you, actually). However, this is a young person's game insofar as it is easier to handle when you are young - you have boundless energy, bounce back easily, etc. When you are a little older it can make you tired. Or such is my advice. Enjoying to do it for your husband is great - but trust me, this is not a job that you get to feel good about yourself. I would try an amateur night, enjoy it and stick with that - trust me. It will be a hotter fantasy if you get to be a sex-rock star that all the guys want and can't have if you don't have the pesky memory of a smelly old man with an accent offering you an extra $15 (or, worse yet, NOT offering) if he put his tongue in your crotch. And trust me - if that sounds unpalatable, it gets worse.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I started at 32, almost 33... i'll be 35 next month. :)
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
Oh gosh no you aren't too old. I just started dancing four months ago and I am 30. I make great money and am confident in what I do. But I do tell my customers that I am 25.
I have also never been in such great shape in my life. The dancing does a body good!! And the money doesn't hurt the bank account. :)
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
Just don't keep it up til you're 55. Girl at my old work was that old and it looked BAD
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I started when I was 27...I'll be 33 this summer. Though most customers dont guess I'm over 25 (thank god for dim lighting right??!!LOL)
And the braces will help you pull off the schoolgirl thing...dont be surprised if guys ask you if you are a teenager!
I'm also married(and was when i started) and as long as I'm ok with it, he's ok with it!

Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I turned 34 three months ago. I started dancing two months ago. :) I've been doing great! I agree with the sentiment of feeling better about my body now than I did when I was in my early twenties; I was so wrapped up in all kinds of insecurities and immaturities, and even though youth does automatically provide certain physical advantages, I am also unquestionably in better shape overall now.
You are at a great age! Most likely no one will believe your real age anyway - no one believes mine, in or out of the club. Just like I have a fake 'real' name for those who insist on knowing it, I have a fake 'real' age. I lean in conspiratorially, pledge them to secrecy with this bit of classified information, and whisper "I just turned thirty! Can you believe it?" The response is always a variation on "No way! Really? I totally thought you were, like, ____!" (25/6/7, even as young as 22 or 23.) I plan to stick with it, through some financial goals, for about a year or so. Probably no more than two - the train eventually leaves the station for us all.
There are some other thread addressing the age issue on here, if you want to read some more opinions. I say go for it - with the caveat that you do need to take extra-good care of yourself healthwise.
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I'm 27 and I'm 5'2" at 113lbs so I make great money.. I say go for it!
About the braces... I work with a girl that has braces and it doesn't effect her money at all that I can tell.
Husbands, well as long as you are upfront with them and they undersand everything about the job its ok. Otherwise you will always have sort of a possible struggle on your hands.

Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
So what do you think the MAX age for a stripper is? Just curious - NOT like I am going to start doing it again *L* I am 42 and have been told by tons of people, men and women, that I could pass for 29 or 30 (good genes or clean living *L*). I'd love to do a few amateur nights and see what happens.
Any thoughts? Good or Bad
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
i started when i was 26. age (for the most part) is a number. i knew a 45 year old dancer who looked 30 and she -banked-.

Agreed. I started three years ago at 25. I get really cranky and sore if I work more than 3 shifts per week.
I do think that starting a little later is a good thing for some people. For me, my confidence was lacking 25. My money management skills were poor and I was just not thick skinned enough to deal with some of the crappy things that do happen in the club, like nasty co-workers, mean custies, extras, drugs, and booze.
I'm not saying that everyone who starts stripping young is a mess, I'm just saying that some of us take a little longer to find our backbone so that this industry dosen't change us for the worse. I've met tons of girls who dance and are 18 or started at 18 and have good heads on thier shoulders. I'm so jealous because if I was that responsible back then, I'd practically be retired by now!
Re: Am I too old to start dancing?
I'm 27 and I started dancing about a year ago. I was good friends with a dancer who was 36 with two kids and she was one of the top earners in our club.
The great thing about strip clubs is that the lights are usually pretty dim. Most custys think I am around 21 or 22. God help them if the lights ever went on. lol
Age makes no difference, as long as you are not one of those sad women who still think they got it at 40 - 45 and you can totally tell that they had a life of partying and getting verbally abused by stupid customers. I'm not saying that women that age ARE old, but a dancer's career does have a shelf life. That age is relative to each scenario.
And braces = you looking at least 5 years younger. You husband is right, some men have a FETISH for braces, or girls that look like they are in their teens. Capitalize on it.
I need braces too. I'm sure I'll see a spike in my earnings when I start pairing them with little schoolgirl outfits, pigtails, and lollipops.
