Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
"American Badass" Kid Rock, if you like him...
Personally, I love the music, but cannot stand the man singing--if he would just shut the fuck up about how cool he is, for once, lol...
If your audience isn't listening closely, you could try the David Bowie/NIN remix of "I'm Afraid of Americans", which is much better than the original. There's a slow version and a fast one--don't even think of using the slow one, because then they'll understand what the lyrics are saying. Not a patriotic song, lol--but the dummies will think it is!
Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
Pssst. "America:Fuck Yeah" is pretty damned unpatriotic, too. (Hilarious, though, I agree) If you're worried about offending someone with any of the others, I'd add that one to the list. It's satire, but I think lines like "SLAVERY! FUCK YEAH!" give it a nasty edge. Just a thought. People get really weird about politics, I'd be careful.

Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
I think I just might break my moratorium on Kid Rock for "American Badass". Thanks Djoser! Ordinarily I can't stand him, but I do kinda like the intro to "Bawitdaba" . . . and then he has to go and open his yap. Ugh! But "Badass" fits the theme and tone. It shall be song #3. Cool.
Love the Bowie/NIN too! I'll have to dig around a bit.
I know what you mean, MrC! Is it foolhardy of me to be counting on the SC customers' senses of humor? Only one way to find out . . .

Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
"America: Fuck Yeah" sounds very much like "America Number One" by Consolidated as far as lyrics go, time to go DL it then, haha.
It's my favorite Consolidated song, do I ever love that one!
I actually thought of recommending it (America Number One), but it's pushing it pretty far, and it's a bit heavy to be called rock.
It would work for dummies that liked hardcore shit, but if anyone listens to the lyrics you could get into...
trouble.
Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
how bout Jimi Hendrix's star spangled banner? might be hot for the start of a set...

Re: Patriotic yet rockin'?
Thanks y'all! "America: Fuck, Yeah" was a big hit, especially among the bouncers, who then kept singing it the rest of the night. It was a fun set - I entered wrapped in a flag, flipped it around a bit and then wrapped it around one of the tippers at the rail (didn't want to lay it on the ground in case anyone freaked out), which also went over well.
Djoser, I'll have to check out that Consolidated song. And Juliana - I'd thought about using the Jimi Hendrix too - If I had it to do over again, that might work very well. The Zombie tunes too. And I've never heard that Poison remake; since my rebirth as a metal chick, I ought to get that too!
Happy Fourth, y'all! Hope those who are working tonight find this thread useful.
