Re: a good at the bar hustle
I do that all the time! In fact when I go in to start my shift I'll check out the guys at the bar first and that's usually how I start off :)
Re: a good at the bar hustle
Hehe I do that all the time. I'll just sit close by and make random smartass/witty remarks. Example:
(this is a customer who had earlier turned me down on the 'wanna dance?' line)
Customer: (Talking to bartender) I see you guys got new carpet here.
Me: Oh, you're a fan of carpet? Because I'm a hardwood flooring kinda girl myself *wink*
Customer: :D
And he bought a dance.
Hopefully you all caught the innuendo there.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
The bar is a great place to sit and find customers. Or have them find you. You are sitting by yourself but seem more approachable at the bar then if you were to be sitting at a table on the floor.
In fact, one guy was on his way out last night and spotted me at the bar. I had to go onstage but he waited for me and got three back-to-back dances.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
I try to stick to the guys on the floor. Less than half the time the guys at the bar want a dance or will get a dance. Sometimes they want to be left alone and kinda give me the brush off, sometimes they just want to bug me to meet them outside of the club. But, if there's no one left, I'll go chat them up... Ask them what they're in their for, invite them to come stageside when it's my turn up...
Re: a good at the bar hustle
Like Bella, I usually approach the guys at the bar last because in my experience, most of them are there just to hang out and drink and they usually don't buy dances. Once in a while I've had luck doing what Kristina suggested. Another thing I will sometimes ask is what their favorite kind of beer is or if they're watching sports on TV, I'll ask what the score is or who's winning. If they act interested in talking to me, then I know I have a chance of getting some money out of them. If they don't talk much or kind of blow me off, then I know not to waste much time.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
Helle Hairpin, I seriously read through this whole thread, got to the end, and then went, "OOOOOH.... hardwood...." and laughed hysterically. Man, it's been a long day.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
regardless of if the guy is at the bar or on the floor, i have best luck with the singles, not the groups. they are there for dances, more serious about it to come in alone, and are easier to get to spend money. ESPECIALLY the ones drinking non-alcoholic drinks like water... $4-6 for a water depending on club, and then i know they are NOT there to get drunk but instead to spend.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
Funny, I always hit up guys at the bar. o.O; I chat him up. He buys me a drink. We drink. We dance. Fun.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
In the end, it all depends on the club's own 'culture'. Some clubs the bar is a no go zone as the people who hang around the bar are the drinkers as they want to be close to their pleasure source (the bar). Whereas in other clubs the bar is just a place for someone to stand or lean against thus they are fair game just like everyone else in the club. This is something that should be done based upon the club's own culture.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
I go to the bar when I get tired of the floor or have had a couple guys say no (which doesn't happen much in my club cause dances are cheap). I've had good luck at the bar actually. Tonight a guy from the bar spent about 180 dollars on me. I've also been paid just to sit and talk to guys at the bar, and that's the best kind of money, in my opinion.
Re: a good at the bar hustle
As a customer, I sometimes have to go to the bar because the dancers are hanging out there and not working the room. That probably would not happen if there were SW savvy dancers in the club, but lots of times the dancers seem to be more interested in hanging around with their friends at the bar than meeting customers. So while I normally sit at a table, if I am at the bar I DEFINITELY would hope the dancers would say hello.
