Just purchased a 2006 Honda Civic Si. Could have afforded much, much more, but I don't need that in my life right now.
94' Honda Civic. It's been running like new since I bought it in 99', so I have no reason to buy a new car. It also has 300,000 miles. I'm going for 400 thou. :)
Our income is not tax free...Quote:

Heh, tax free, I wish! I have a '92 pontiac sunbird *work car, piece of shit*, and an '04 bmw 325ci
i have a 98 dodge ram. i loooooooove it.
I'd have to agree with hardkandee, Our "monies" are far from tax free.
And I'm real leary about doing a superficial shout out as to what car I'm driving and if I'm buying or leasing.
I'm more curious as to why this is of any importance to thegreatdame. Are you interested in buying or leasing a car? Do you have any questions about which brand is best?
The type of car one drives is as trivial as the type of color one wears on their shirt. It's all a matter of preference. And it may or maynot tell you what you're really looking to know, and what is that exactly?
Would you like to do a poll to see if a large percentage of dancers drive a Lexus, Mercedes, or BMW? Or would you be surprised to find out that a lot of dancers are just like other people and drive whatever works best for them.
I don't mean to be fussy, but I'd rather not be defined by my materialistic possessions, in the same manner that I do not want to defined by my being a dancer.
right now i own a dead 91 mercury sable and i'm driving a 96 chrysler concord.
i -rock-
i have a dodge durango 2002 and my husband has a dodge ram truck 2000
I have three cars: a 2006 Mustang GT(V8 engine yeah!!), a 1976 VW camper van, and a 1973 VW Beetle. I paid for both of the VWs straight up with cash. The Mustang is the only new car that I've ever had, and the first car to be financed. Although paying interest sucks and I'm well aware of my Mustang's depreciating value, I consider the auto loan as somewhat of an investment...it is helping me to further establish credit with a good-sized loan on an item that I really really wanted. (Before I bought the Mustang, all I had were teeny weeny sized limits on credit cards and a small sized student loan. This actually hurt me when applying for credit, because it didn't show any proof that I could handle paying a decent-sized line of credit.) I will be paying off the Mustang early(2 years as opposed to 5), so I will be saving interest and have less debt for when I apply for a mortgage. Hopefully my credit score will be in the mid-700s by that time so that I could qualify for the best possible mortgage rates.
I just bought a 2004 Honda Civic SIR. But I don't have my driver's license yet.
Paid cash, to my dad. :D
Can't pass up a good deal on a car you know is well-maintained!
And uh duh, our money is not tax free. Especially not if you're buying a car!
I mostly drive my Ford Explorer XLT, but I also own a Mitsubishi Galant and Chevy S-10 pickup. But thats now when I've been retired for forever from dancing, and I'd still like to know how you figure the income I made then was tax free. But anyway, when I danced I had a Ford Mustang.
*Edited to add: All are paid for except for my Explorer, which I owe $2260 on still....lol. It'll be paid off soon too!
I agree wholeheartedly. It upsets me to see dancers throwing away all of their money on unimportant stuff like flashy cars, when they could invest it and set themselves up for life.Quote:

It is spelled money for the record. All of us must pay taxes. It is illegal not to do so. Some dancers really do not make that much with the costs of living, club fees, and the state of the industry. Remember the IRS took Al Capone down when no one else could.Quote:

I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS and a 2005 Cadillac Escalade. We lease these two vehicles, which makes perfect business sense for us since we have a construction, design business and we can write off the vehicles as a partial business expense when we do our taxes. The write itself pays for the vehicles. Also, I don't know how the tax structure works in other area's, but in the DC area you are an employee on the books and you get a small hourly wage. At the end of the night the club estimates how much money you make and it is recorded. You are then issued a standard W-2 at the beginning of the year. I don't see how anyone could avoid paying taxes in this situation.
i am rockin a brand new toyota sienna minivan...oh yeah baby, you know you want me!
A '97 Kia Sephia that has made several trips around the country with me -- it's got a lot of issues, both mechanical and cosmetic, but I figure the trade-in value on it is pretty much nothing, so I'm just gonna drive 'er til she quits.
Where I work, we all have to valet park and then wait together at the end of the night to get our cars back. Mine makes a hideous squealing sound when it's starting up, and other dancers and lingering customer sometimes give me funny looks before they drive off in their Benz or Lexus or SUV. I cringe a little, but I'm happy knowing that I own my car outright, and am not a monthly payment away from having it revoked.
Hey Grace! my car makes all sorts of wonderful noises too. I also bought my car outright. No paying $500 for the next seven years on a luxury car for me. I look at my piece of just with the pride that I have in knowing it is being held together with duck tape, clothes hangers, and prayers to the blessed Virgin De La Guadalupe. My car got me away from Katrina to Florida, then to Virginia, then to Texas. Not done yet with moving either.
Ditto. I'm blissfully happy not having a car payment.Quote:

I used a tax refund to purchase my car so yes that money is tax free yet everything else is not... good luck having a car and avoiding the IRS in your country (the ATO in mine).
Anyway, 1988 Toyota Corolla. I used to have a 2002 Bug "Bandit" .. just see the recent "stolen" thread (stolen is the thread's title/subject line)...
The car is a business expense. I would not have bought it if it was not. The Bug Bandit is the personal expense... or was... :'(
benz C class
I do pay taxes. I'm not a dancer. In less than two years I'll actually "own" my lexus.
