Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
Hello all...
So I'm auditioning at Lace in NJ on sunday, which is a gown/bikini club with a full bar. My previous club was a nude joint, BYOB.
The manager was telling me that they sell about 45 champagne rooms a night, and I imagine this is how a girl make most of her money. At my old club I never bothered to sell the VIP because it really wasn't a very good deal.
Anywho my question is this... I don't drink, I'm completely sober, haven't had a drop in over 2 years. If a guy buys a champagne room with me, is he gonna expect me to drink with him? And if so, what is the best way to turn him down? Turn down the drink that is... not the champagne room!
/:O
thanks!

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
There's two ways to do this, cause I dont drink either.
First is to ask if the champagne has to be drunk before you leave. If the answer is no, you're golden. Pour some, put it up to your lips, fake a sip, tell him how good it is and thank him but tell him you're ready to get down to some real fun or whatever. If he brings it up fake innocence and go, "Oh my goodness, I was having so much fun I totally forgot!" cause most champagnes are only a fifty minute hour anyways. You can pull it off.
Second way is the pour and water the fake plants scheme. Self explanatory, but more trouble than it's worth if you don't have to finish the champagne.

dont get caught on the watering the plants thing. i only ever did that at clubs where i got champagne kickbacks.

As far as other drinks are concerned like coctails or whatever, most clubs will have fake drinks or virgin drinks that you can order but the customer won't know it's a fake drink. Just don't let him have a sip or buy one himself because you run the risk of getting caught. You'll figure things out and learn how to pull little things off.

Yep..I cant tell you how many drinks/shots the carpet has drank in various clubs!!
With champagne it's even easier....usually it will come in an ice bucket...so you can just pour your glass into the ice bucket and refill the glass to make it look like you are drinking

i find most guys dont even want to buy the champagne. i always tell them not too if they dont like it to save themselves a bit of money and then they just order beer or whatever. saves you from the calories and the headache!

I have dumped countless glasses of champagne on the floor....or tell your host/hostess to make you a "mimosa" and substitute soda or tonic for the champagne.

I've never had a customer give me grief about not drinking. If a guy seems like he wants to beleive that I'm tipsy and vulnerable, I'll tell him I'm not drinking with him because I had too much earlier (tee hee) and I have to drive home. They always respect this. Or tell them the truth, that you're proud of being sober and don't need to get drunk to have fun, wink wink. Lying to customers seems like waaaaay too much work.

I agree with Grace--there is no need to lie about it. I hardly ever drink at work and most guys don't seem to care. Sometimes I will get a guy who really wants to buy me a drink and then I get soda.
I worked at the Lace in West Nyack, owned by the same people, so they may be similar. It had a full bar too, but we didn't sell champange with the room, unless the customer specifially asked for it. Infact the room came with a free drink (alcoholic or non) for me and the customer. I always got water or a diet coke, and no customers complained.

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
This has come up before in another thread recently -- the consensus there, and certainly my experience, was that most customers realize they are paying for time, not the champagne, and don't really care whether it gets drunk. If you have a young, inexperienced guy for whom this is a lot of money, I suppose it might be an issue, but I doubt it would be a problem with most of us.

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
ooh thanks for all the tips!
It is the same owner as the Nyack club. They also own gogo rama and some other clubs.
For the regular VIP I don't think they have to buy champagne, and for the super duper VIP a bottle of champagne comes gratis. I don't think I have the balls to pretend that I'm drinking when I'm not... perhaps I'll just tell them that I'm allergic? Or only pretend if they're really giving me a hard time...
guh- wish me luck! I'm getting a little nervous now... I haven't been able to dance or exercise at all for nearly a month now, so I hope that I'm up to snuff. The girls at this club are real knockouts!

Do what I do - ask for a chocolate milk with whipped cream so you can give him a whipped cream show instead. He'll completely forget about alcohol.

of course he is going to expect you to drink. just get the waitress to bring you a glass with something else in it

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
I'm just wondering. doesn't anyone feel bad about making a mess by deliberately dumping out drinks on the carpet? Not bad for the customer, I mean for the poor custodian guy that cleans up the club and has to deal with the mess. I don't know, it just seems messed up to me. I'm all for drinks being poured in plants or trash cans though.

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
Trust me, you're not the only one who doesn't drink at work. Ask a manager what the SOP is. At most clubs they'll offer you some fancy bottled water so you can carry around a Voss bottle or something in there. Usually it's just a drink tab minimum or fee for the club, so it doesn't matter if it's spent on alcohol or not. I don't think it's good to fake drinking, and you really don't need an excuse. If they press it, tell them it's a personal health issue for you (and hey, staying sober certainly is).

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
I've worked at a few places that had a "Champagne Room" but didn't even sell champagne.
Unless you are getting a commission on the drinks, then don't worry about it. If you are making a commission, then just pour it out. The clubs are used to this, that is why there are fake plants in the Champagne room;).

At the clubs I've done this at...the carpets got cleaned on a semi-regular basis no matter what, so it wasnt any extra work.

Lots of dancers use the ice bucket.

It's not as sneaky though8).

Re: Do customers get mad if you dont drink in the Champagne room?
And that is probably why I have never seen a dancer use the plants, come to think of it.
But then sometimes I am distracted. ;)

Funny how so many people think strippers are alcoholics(not to mention druggies and whores, but we wont go into that..grrrrr) and here we are pouring OUT the alcohol!
