back pain
my apologies to all if a similar thread has been used and abused to death.
my dilemma begins with a fellow dancer trying to teach me the "helicopter" trick on the pole. it's the one that involves gripping the pole, leaning back and doing a leg splay over your head. the first time i did it (for about 2 seconds) i felt an uncomfortable tug in my back left of the spine. after a few hours the pain went away.
i tried the trick again this week (to see if i had built up any more strength) on sunday and got the same "tug" in the same area, only it was more painful. the pain hasn't gone away. if i tap on the sore spot on my back it doesn't hurt...the pain is internal.
what could be the trouble? should i see a doctor? what should i do to care for it in the meantime? i've continued dancing, but going easy on the pole. however, it hurts to look behind me. what do you do when you have back pain?

Re: back pain
Go to the doctor. I cracked a rib doing a similar trick and had no idea until about a year later. (had no insurance @ the time).
