Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Does anyone know anything about dancing in the Netherlands?
Whether they allow prostitution or not? (because I imagine it'd be harder to make money as a dancer if you could just buy a whore instead.)
Whether they are more accepting of the non-anorexic look than in the states?
Can anyone recommend some good clubs?
Do some of the "coffee clubs" have dancers, or do dancers work elsewhere, or maybe there isn't even dancing there at all? (I find that hard to believe, but hey, it's possible.)
Or generally, what is differant about dancing in Europe, as opposed to the US?

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
I wrote this on Amsterdam a few months ago http://www.strip-magazine.com/mmagaz...2312438&ucat=2
Prostitution and hard core porn are legal in Holland, in Amsterdam there are no real Spearmint type TD clubs { not sure about the rest of the country} but there are live sex shows and a few strip bars. Generally there is much more open contact than you would get in the US. Prostitution is illegal in France and there are 3 US style clubs in Paris but they all recruit girls via the UK due to French employment laws.
In Southern { Spain, Italy, Greece} and Eastern Europe { Czech Republic, Hungary etc} there are loads of clubs but they are basically openly brothels complete normally with bedrooms at the back. Prostitution is also legal in Germany though there are normal strip clubs there, also places like Belgium, Norway, and Sweden have non hooker clubs. In the UK it's very like the USA except that alcohol and full nudity is OK nearly everywhere and generally the non contact rules are observed more closely.
If you did around on www.strip-magazine.com there are features on several cities and dozens of clubs.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Can't add to what Tyke said, except to reiterate that if you're interested in dancing in Europe and actually making money at it, England is probably your only real option. Of course there are immigration issues to deal with if you're American...
I am curious what you mean by "non-anorexic-looking" though. Do you mean overweight and flabby or toned and fit? Because there's a world of difference, and I don't know of any truly anorexic look that is considered desirable in the US. Most folks want their women to look healthy.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
There is no work in Amsterdam. I'm living here at the moment. I posted about this a few weeks ago...and was pointed in the direction of a few clubs....which have unfortunately closed down. No more Blue Bell....no more Alexis.
Selinas Bar is left, but that feels a little dodge to me. You must drink, drink, drink. There is also another place which only has lap dances...2 doors down from Selinas...and it feels even dodgier, and i have on advice from a former barman of theirs 'not to bother'.
La Vien en Proost in the Red Light District is still running...but it's hectic, and very high contact. The bar is the stage. It smells.
I've heard rumors of a club named 'The Golden Key' near Leidseplein...i plan to do a little research on that.
I've also been told of clubs in Rotterdam but i can't seem to find any information on them.
I myself am off to London in a month or two :)

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Oh, Alexis and Blue Bell are gone. What a shame! Not much money there, but I had some friends working there forever, very laid back atmosphere. :(

What she means is that the white owners and managers who control this industry in this country, feel that a woman is fat that a mexican or black man would consider hot. Look at the bodies on the BET videos. How many women like that work in better strip clubs in this country?
A 24 inch waist and 36 inch butt is the biggest the majority of better strip club owners and managers consider acceptable dancer material, but a 26 or 28 inch waist and 38-42 inch rear is good stuff for black and mexican men.
Many girls who have 26-28 inch waists and 38-42 inch butts are turned away at many better US clubs, toned or not.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. I'm not flabby, I'm just a curvy girl with natural cups that overflow a 36D. On the bottom, I usually wear a size 5/7 in juniors and a size 14/16 in little girls. I'm larger on the top because of my tits, but still small enough in the waist that just about any outfit that fits across my tits will bag loosely at the waist. Black/latino guys LOVE my ass, I stand out because I'm very, very pale, and yet I definately can shake it. So the black/hispanic guy A lot of white club owners don't understand it, that my ass shake is a novelty for white men, but an instant hard-on for a black or hispanic guy. Here is a somewhat recent body-shot, I lost about 10 lbs since this pic. The following one didn't come out too nice-looking in the face, but it shows how big my tits are.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Well, I seriously do NOT mean any offense by this, but you would do alot better if you tone up. This is not a case of white man wanting super-skinny girls, this is a case of girl needs to workout and eat right. There's quite a bit of excess around your middle. Europeans don't appreciate that bodytype anymore than Americans do. And NO, I am NOT someone who thinks "anorexic" is desirable - I am faaaaarr from that myself.
This is what I suspected when I first read your post. You will be well-served to watch what you eat, hit the gym 3 times a week and get yourself in shape. Then you will have alot more opportunities open up for you. You can get hired in better clubs and you will have an easier time making money in general.
Tina, I dunno what girls you're looking at with the <24" waists. That's like spinner/waif material. That is not what white men consider standard "in shape"; it's tiny and granted it may be what SOME white men prefer, but it's certainly not the standard. Few chics have true waist measurements that small.
And I'll have you know I do well with the white men too, and my waist hasn't been under 26" since I was in junior high but a fatty I ain't!

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
just to make clear a point which was raised earlier in the thread.
The USA is not part of the European Union or of the British Commonwealth. Thus in order to work legally in any European Union or British Commonwealth country American girls need to obtain a work visa. This is not impossible, but in most EU countries it requires the 'sponsorship' of a prospective employer - who is not likely to volunteer to deal with the bureaucracy when another girl who IS a citizen of the EU can be hired without hassles.
Since Britain is a member of the EU and also of the Commonwealth, girls who are citizens of other Commonwealth countries (Canada, Australia etc.) can 'back door' their way into the EU by making a 'stop' in Britain first.
Note that this work visa issue cuts both ways, with EU girls and Commonwealth girls also being required to obtain work visas to legally work in US clubs (which are extremely difficult to come by).

The rest of the story
What I was considdering was a semi-permanant move to the Netherlands, I was trying to figure out if I could dance there as an occupation. I have chronic untreatable migraines, and doctors have been trying to get me to try medical marijuana for over a year now, because I react very badly to almost every medication that I've been on for migraines, and they're running out of options. I don't have enough money to finance a trip to the Netherlands so that I can legally try it, but I figured that if I danced, I would be able to stay there a week or so until I made up enough money to pay for my ticket back, and see if marijuana would actually treat my migraines the way the doctors keep telling me it will. If it did work, I could try to move there more permantly. I'm also considdering Canada, but I heard that they won't let you use marijuana medically if you have a history of psychiatric illness, and I have bipolar1.
Aren't there a lot of clubs that don't care if you're legal to work in the US? I mean clubs that you could get a tourist visa to get you in and then work there? I mean I've danced at probably a dozen places and NOONE has EVER asked me for proof that I was legally allowed to work in the US, (most just wanted ID to make sure I'm over 18.) ONE club that was paing a weekly wage for girls to work wanted SS info so they could do their taxes, but that was it. It would seem that girls could get a tourist visa to visit the US and then dance at any number of these clubs. Of course, I'm from a very rural part of Pennsylvania, might be differant (more professional) elsewhere.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Have you asked your doctor about Marinol?
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Looks like you can even try it free to see if it works for you before you uproot to a whole 'nother country.
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Marinol is mainly used to treat nausea and to make people eat, it's not a painkiller. What I need is a painkiller, something non-narcotic (I have strange reactions to narcotics,) and something that will not interfere with my bipolar and nothing that will cause memory loss, as I react very badly to that kind of medication as well. I've been trying to find treatments for my migraines for YEARS, and I just keep having one bad reaction after another, it's really quite depressing! I'm getting rather fed up with the US in general, an looking to move somewhere that my same-sex partner and I can marry legally, as well as a place that will let me try medical marijuana without being all, "OMG WAR ON DRUGS!" I don't have a lot of options for that, I've been hoping for Canada for years now, but I don't want to get there and then find out I'm ineligable for the medical marijuana because of my bipolar (the reason why I need it to begin with, if it wasn't for the bipolar I could take any number of normal medications for the bipolar, like maxalt or imitrex or relpax!)

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
As far as work papers for US clubs, I am betting that the folks in your area hear your American accent and see your ID and KNOW you are American ;) It might be different if a girl walked in with a foreign accent and no US driver license...
In other cities, yes they are rather more diligent on that stuff.
Good luck with the treatments.
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
So marijuana is ok but marinol is out? Huh, I never would've thunk that. I'm sorry, you do seem to be in quite a predicament I hope you're able to find a solution soon. Best of luck to you.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Gosh, all the way to the Netherlands to smoke some pot, huh? If only there was a way to smoke marijuana in America . . . but no, that would never work.
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Even if the Amsterdam clubs I know had enough money for you to be able to pay for your trip there and back, PLUS accomodations, food, pot money, etc...it would take you more than a week to make it back. The money there is tight. You make money hustling drinks there too, no one cares about booty popping out there. BUT, if you can talk a good game and sell champagne, then it wouldn't matter so much if you are a bit thicker.
Here is my advice: work hard and save some money for a trip over there. You can get a direct flight from Philly or Pittsburgh to Schipol airport, it will take you 6 hours or so. Stay in inexpensive accomodations, such as a hostel. All hotels/hostels/pensions in A'dam are crappy. You'll probably have to share a bathroom and shower with other guests. Spend a couple of days checking out the city. Don't just focus on the red light district, that is a teeny tiny party of a large city with many great activities. See if you can get around on a bicycle, and if you can pickup the Dutch language, its not easy.
THEN, think about it. I wouldn't move to A'dam for the weed alone though. That city is both miserable and wonderful.

Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
I dunno, but I kinda think if I were that desperate to smoke some pot I'd find a neighborhood seller and try it out. Not that I'm advising anyone to do anything illegal. But, scraping up for a trip to Amsterdam just to smoke pot?? For medical purposes? Come on...
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
I wouldn't worry about knowing Dutch. Most everyone here can speak English, although at times they can be stubborn about doing so :D
The Bulldog Hostel is clean, though you do have to share a bathroom.
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
Bulldog Hostel, I wouldn't recommend it, but for personal reasons. You can get a room at the Hotel Princess, just south of the Leidseplein, for 50 euro a night. Also, the hostel near Vondelpark, the Flying Pig, is decent enough. I wouldn't recommend staying in RedLight district, it is dirty there.
Speaking Dutch isn't necessary as a visitor, but if you want to live there, its a good idea to know some. As a foreigner, you will get treated MUCH better if you know some of the language...

I agree. Some parts of Canada too.
I don't think there's a good club anywhere that won't expect you to lose a little weight...I'd suggest out here, but Vancouver is the kind of market when I'm borderline (and I'm thin and toned), so probably no go. But you can smoke pot here with relative impunity, if you so desire. For now.

True..though my husband was out the other night hanging with a fellow American who had been here for 25 years and spoke fluent Dutch. He still cops quite a bit of grief for being foreign. I'm not sure what it was like when you were here, but we're finding it, along with every other foreigner that we meet, to be really quite rascist here.
-
Re: Dancing in the Netherlands, Europe
^^^ because they have corporate lawyers and stockholders, count on the fact that ALL 'corporate chain' clubs are going to check ID's and citizenship/visa as required by the US patriot act, as are all professionally managed independent clubs. Sure you'll be able to find clubs here and there that will hire any 'hot' dancer without even bothering to check her real name - but these clubs are also likely to treat other laws with the same disregard (i.e. prostitution, drugs etc.) if it means the club will earn more money.

I lived with native Dutch people. Socially, it really sucked going out with them, because when comfortable, everyone spoke Dutch, made Dutch jokes, etc....I decided to learn the language. Once I had a decent grasp, I found life to be easier, and people were much kinder to me. So after my basic Dutch was exhausted, natives were pleased that I made the effort and treated me normally afterwards.
Are you originally from Aus, Misha?
