does changing your name affect your $?
i've been debating about changing my stripper name. but think that some of the regulars especially and even some of the casual repeat customers will lose interest or something.
for those of ya'all who've changed names, has it affected your money flow at all?
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
Personally, I wouldn't change it unless you have a good reason to. Is it hard to say, do you get complaints about it, or is there a privacy reason for doing so? Unless it's one of those or you are switching clubs I would keep it. There was a girl at my club who went from Christa to Britney and now no one really knows what to call her and it's just kind of complicated.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
From another point of view:
I had to change names because my original stage name was a little unusual and customers had a hard time remembering it. When I changed my stage name, it was much easier for customers to remember, and they could remember who to ask for.
As for customers that came in looking for me under my old name, I had been there long enough that the managers knew who to refer them too, and most of the dancers as well.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
Ive seen a girl change her name a trillion times. She was the hot playboy type and have several regulars. So they ended up calling her all kinds of names she had called herself....Brooke, Ashley, Brooklyn and so on.
Its not the best idea but if you are going from Chocolate to Holly then sure its a great idea. Also if youve been at a club for years and want to change your name to whatever it will be hard for people to notice the change and may not reconize you at first.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
Makes it tough to call ahead and ask "is Gemini working" to determine club outing though...
We've done that, looked for specific ladies based on which of us guys is going to be spending the most loot.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
In my experience, girls who changed their names while still working in the same club weren't taken seriously. Everyone would still call them by their old name.
I think you can change your name if you are switching clubs, but otherwise, I think it would be a long and hard transition that you may lose patience for.
I used to know a girl who called herself by the months names every month.. in January she was called Janary, in February she was February, etc. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
Well, even a customer should be able to remember her name...
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I've always noticed that girls who changed their names while remaining in the same club ended up losing out. Except once. A dancer from a nearby club was arrested for the murder of her customer.... we had a dancer at our club with the same name. It was wise of her to change it then.
I wont ever change mine. I cant. I have a website, items that I sell, logos, etc... My business revolves around my name. If a club already has a Paige, I WILL go elsewhere.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I changed my name a few times. At one club I had to change it twice. There was already a Cameron, so I switched to Kelly...then when I changed shifts, there was a Kelly AND a Cameron, so I changed again to Erin. I didnt notice a differance in my money.
Again at another club...there was a Cameron, so I went by Candice...HATED it so as soon as the other girl left, I took my name back. No change...it took a cpl girls a few weeks to call me by Cam, but they got used to it.
It all depends on your area...is it a big regulars kind of club, or mostly tourists. We get a lot of tourists here, so the majority of our clientele never knew that I had goen by something differant a cpl weeks prior. My few regulars didnt care...I told them I went to using my "real" name and they thought that was cool. Took most about 2 seconds to adjust.(esp since now they knew my "real" name...lol)
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I used to be 'monique' and alot of guys would think I was asking for 'money' - go figure ??
Any how I changed my name to fifi (feefee) and it has been the best - no one calls me monique any more - it only took me a few times to remind people what my new name was :-)
I have found that by changing my name has been the best as many different culteres come to my club and 'fifi' can be passed off as european, asian or just plain funny (if they are bogans) lol .... it is easy to remember and when i am asked what is my real name I just say Fiona - which of course is long for 'fifi' and the guys beleive it :-D also they say what is your full name - I just say first name fi last name fi :-D it keeps them happy even tho they know I am bs them!
xx
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I changed mine, only b/c it was strippery before and I wanted a real sounding name. All my regulars loved it, b/c it wasn't so cheesy and the only problem I had was the waitresses were used to BUffie and it took them about 2 weeks to get kimberlee down, but other than that it was a blessing. I had gotton so sick of the vampire slayer jokes. Why do you wanna change it? I think that may make a difference. It's really no big deal and I was buffie for a year and a half.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
right now i go by Blayze, i want something that isn't so gladiator sounding. i love the name, and think it's pretty (it also suits me, i've been told...or soemthing like that) but i get so tired of "hi i'm blayze" "o really?? when are lazer and tazer going to show up?"
i've met a few girls that blayze is their real name, and i have nothing against the name except for that guys think it sounds masculine. but whatever.
if i was goign to change it, i'd definately want to go with a more regular sounding feminine name, and have been considering Jane (think Closer), Lara, or soemthing else... i haen't decided
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I'm fond of more "real sounding names" and I think a change from blayze could impact how people remember you or percieve you, but I don't think it would have major $$$ impact.
Re: does changing your name affect your $?
I'm really thinking about changing mine, too. I'm gonna go from Cherry (I have one tattooed on my thigh) to Kristin I think. If you do go through with it, post the results on this thread and let us know how easy or hard the transition was. :)
