I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
Ok, last night I was at work, and it was pretty slow almost the entire time. One guy was really nice anf he was tipping me well, so I would hang around him a little longer than the other guys. (Oh, and keep in mind, we do not have ANY private room or anything, and NO set prices for table dances, not even a minimum)
So I had to go up on stage, and I told the guy I was talking with I'd come back as soon as I got off (he wanted to buy me a drink). When I got off and got back on the floor, a couple of guys had just walked in and I said hello. One guy grabbed A DOLLAR out of his pocket, placed it on the table and asked if I was doing dances, I told him I would be back over in a few minutes, that I was thirsty from being on stage, and I was going to get a drink.
So when I went back to my friend at the bar, the bartender (and shift manager) asked if she could speak with me. I went back and she said that she saw those guys ask mne for a dance, and that most of the dancers are being lazy tonight....blah blah...and we aren't going to keep custys in here if we don't dance for them. So, ok, fair enough. BUT- who in their right effing mind would dance for someone they KNEW was going to give them a dollar????? I went back over a minute later and asked if he wsa ready for his dance, danced for him, and got my songle fucking dollar....
WTF??? How can guys expect you to be enthusiastic and work it for an entire song when you don't even give a decent tip??? And how can the management expect you to want to dance for these guys???
Sorry about the rant, but I was very very irritated, and was wondering what others thought about this kinda thing? /:O

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
I wonder if that dollar would have gotten a drink at the bar....

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
i know what you mean - it's so frusterating!! they keep screwing the girls who work hard and are reliable. and they wonder why so many girls are leaving!
and i don't remember signing anything that says we are required to dance for every customers who asks. if they're going to fuck us by not setting a dance price they have to know we aren't going to treat the $1 assholes the same as the guys who hand out $20s...
AND, it isn't like you turned the guys down to go sit by yourself or hang out with the other girls. you were still working!! for more money!!!
-
Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
oh, and if you know you're only getting a dollar or two or, hell, even $5, don't dance the whole song. maybe 45 seconds. tops.

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
Wow! What the HELL!?! I didn't know there were places with no minimum dance fee. Why? Damn that's gotta be irritating. Sorry about your night.

Exactly. I would've said that too. "When you start selling drinks for $1, I'll dance for $1."
Or, "Let's see YOU give him a lapdance for that $1".
I gotta say though, they (staff) singled you out and asked you to do it apparently because they know you will go along. I would advise you to stop being such a doormat....er nice person ;)

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
set yourself a minum if they guy asks for a dance tell him you have a 10 dollar min. If he dose not want to pay that then you don't need the dance.

we aren't allowed to set a minimum...the closest thing you can say is "I usually get between 10 and20 dollars a dance". But that is only the guys that don't know the place. These guys were in before, they know the deal, and they won't ask, "how much?" Anyone who actually asks is usually pretty nice, and tips decently.
Well, there were these guys that also came in last night and when I told him we didn't have set prices like another club in the area they were at earlier ($25/dance) they were tipping $3. But generally speaking.

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
^^Is the club giving you a paycheck? Because if you aren't an emplolyee, you can set your own rates. Just like when you go to a salon where the stylists set their own rates. You might have 7 stylists working in the same salon, and all 7 will charge different rates for their services.
That is total Bullshit that the manager wants you to give dances for $1 (unless you can decide how long the dance lasts). You need to get in their faces and tell them that you are not about to do lap dances for less than XYZ amount per song.
Bridgette is right about you letting them walk all over you. They need girls worse than you need that asshole's $1! There are tons of clubs that would love to have you there. You don't need them. Period.

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
so why dont you go to a diffrent club?
-
Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
Yeah...we get a paycheck it ends up to be like 20 bucks a night or something. So I'm not one that can be considered "self-employed". I am employed by the club, and follow the rules. I try to just keep away from management and other staff, except to say hello, how are you kinda thing. I don't want to get in people's business b/c I don't like people getting into mine.
But I most definately DID tell her, "He put A DOLLAR BILL on the table when he asked if I was dancing! It gave me no desire to waste my time over there." Its not like I just said, "ok, im sorry". The only reason I went back over to dance for him is so I could get the dollar and walk back up to the bar displaying the brand new dollar on the side of my g-string.

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
That place has always been that way. No dance price... and its really the best place in the area, despite it going downhill. The other option would be traveling. The city would be a better option if it werent 4 hours away. Likewise Canada.

Well, I like it here, except for the No Minimum thing. And I don't live in an area that has a lot of options. The next best club in the area is about an hour drive from my house, and I hear bad things about working there anyway.
Othere than that there are two shitholes with no dancers and even fewer customers, or there are nude juice bars, and I can't do that. I don't even like my boyfriend looking at that, and I feel more comforatable with "air dances".

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
Still, instead of merely telling the manager they only offered $1, you need to put it more bluntly, more like I suggested. Trust me, they NEED you more than you need them. Whether they pay you that measly $20/night or not.
Think about it - they didn't bother to ask the other girls, did they? So those girls got off the hook while you were stuck dancing for $1. I'd bet my eyeteeth it's because the other girls are a bit more assertive.
Of course, it would be beneficial to learn to some ways to get more money out of these guys. Perhaps if you do something like, look down at the $1, laugh and ask "what's that for?" If they say it's for a dance, I would laugh again and tell them I don't dance for $1. They'll either cough up or not get the dance. Only way to break shitheads like this is to NOT give them the freebies - they pull that crap because they know they can get away with it. Show them they can't, and suddenly their attitudes change ;)
-
Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
^^^^ Thanks, constuctive criticism is always good for me. I should be more assertive.
But they didn't ask the other girls because the guy came to me and asked me personally, no one else even went near them (maybe they already knew to avoid them) ;) But it is way more easy to blow off the cheapo's when its busy and you don't get bitched at by someone.
I am soooo going to try laughing at the next peron who tries to give $1 or 2 or 3... I would absolutely LOOOOOVE to see the look on their faces, Thanks! ;)

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
It's ridiculous that tehy bitched at you...considering that not only was the guy only giving you a measly buck...but you had a customer waiting for you.
I dont think I could handle working at a club where guys could pay $1 for a dance....my time is worth more than that. Hell..here its $10 table, $25 friction...and I dont even offer table dances. When a guy asks how much a dance is I tell them $25. IF they ask about table dances..THEN I'll tell them...but otherwise...why get half as much for the same amount of time?
-
Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
Yeah... I don't think it can be done. Like I have zero faith in customer to pay, you know, "just for fun." Presumable you can do a 10 second dance, or something for $1? Like the set up of this is mysterious to me - they make you dance for WHATEVER the guy gives you? Like a quarter? How does that even work? Outside of that, I think Bridgette is right - tell them that they are making inappropriate demands on your time for the compensation being offered. In dealing with the guys I recommend a very high eyebrow raise and an "Of course, this is a joke of some kind... I'm sure you intend to generously and appropriately compensate me for this dance."
-
Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
*** shudder*** I think that's just horrrible. Definately post to this thread again when you've had the chance to do what Bridgette suggested! Love to hear about their reaction.

What a damned, damned shame it is. Girls used to do WELL there, despite the no minimum policy. Ugh.

I still do fairly well, and I really do enjoy working here. I mean, I worked Tuesday night, which was completely dead, but I got 20's almost all night, and one guy that I told him the tip was up to him gave me a 50 (rare for a single song table dance, but it has happened a few times for me). It doesn't deter me from working htere, but it does make me more hesitant to dance for people, not really knowing what I am going to get out of it. :-\

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
This pay-what-you-want policy sounds crazy to me, though I'm glad to hear that most guys do compensate you appropriately. What gets me is the combination of the no-minimum dance price with the (apparent) requirement that you MUST dance for anyone who asks you. Since you were sitting with a customer, couldn't you have just told them that you were busy?
On a tangent, now that I hear about your club, something that happened to me a few weeks ago makes way more sense. A couple of good ol' boys from the sticks somewhere came into my club and one bought a dance from me and then tried to give me a dollar. When I asked for $20 -- the minimum price at my club -- they acted completely shocked and told me that in the clubs they were used to, they got to pay the dancers whatever they felt like. I had never heard of a club like this and thought they were either crazy or liars. I did get my money the guy in the end, and I stayed nice, but I was PISSED. Now that I've heard about you're club, it kind of makes sense...although WHO IN HELL thinks $1 is a reasonable payment for 3 1/2 minutes of our gorgeous bods?

Re: I'm sorry, but it pisses me off...
If I wouled at this club, I would tell guys they can pay what they want for a dance, but it's 5-10$ for every piece of clothing you take off!

Yeah and just ignore my bluntness. I'm told I can be harsh sometimes :P
But seriously, try laughing at them. Like, really laughing and asking "what's that for?" And then I would tell them I don't dance for $1 if they tell you that's what it's for.
Or maybe try something like "that won't even buy a gallon of gas so what makes you think it'll buy a dance from a hot girl?"
You could say it lots of ways....
