damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
As far as I know, the only club in this town (Austin) with a real bouncer is the Crazy Lady, which is also the dumpiest club in town. In the bigger clubs, you are pretty much left to fend for yourself if a customer is trying to grope you. At my current club, the only intervention I've experienced was once when a manager called me away from a private dance to reprimand ME for "letting" the customer touch me inappropriately. If he'd bothered to watch more than 2 seconds of the dance, he could have seen I was doing everything I could to keep the guys hands off me. Unfortunately, all the clubs in town seem to be like this.
Anyway, girls with good bouncers, count your blessings.

I've noticed this at a lot of clubs in TX.
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
Jeez, that's kinda fucked. No bouncers?
I know how you fell about management "stepping in" though. One night i was dancing, and I put my leg up on the wall behind the custy's head sometime. Well, while doing this, I went to bring my foot back down, almost lost my balance, and put my foot on the table for like, a second before I put it back on the floor (I didn't want to look like an idiot and start wobbling). And I was reprimanded. But the next guy I daced for touched my ass about 10 times, and I had to keep smacking him away. Was anything done about THAT??? Nope........

Its scary working in a club without bouncers. My first club in SD was like that. Scary as shit walking all the way across the street after a shift to my car. Stopped working there for sure. Even worse is that your management scolds you for stupid things. A good bouncer is awesome and I will treat him as such.
Why cant you change clubs again sensuality?

I don't know about Dallas, Houston, or the smaller towns, but in Austin this seems to be the norm. There aren't that many big clubs here, so maybe most managers think they can take care of it on their own. But Perfect 10 where I'm working now is a pretty big place with a lot of dark corners, and I could really use some back-up.
Incidentally, I think the fact that I complained about this might have been one of the reasons I got fired at my old club. I finally told a manager that I was seeing (and experiencing) waaaay too much, er, interactivity between customers and dancers, and felt like no one had my back if I told a customer no. A week later I was pushed out for "not working enough shifts." So now I know to keep my mouth shut, I guess. But grrr.

I live in upstate NY.. there isn't too many options around here. The club I work at is nice, but its going downhill. It is still by far the best club in the area. I would drive down-state a few nights a week if I didn't have a dayjob (It's about 3-3 1/2 hours to the city). But overall I really do like it here, I just can deff see why we are losing business. (ps. I got my period this week and have been irratated by EVERYTHING, I don't usually bitch about the little things ;) )

Well there is "security" at my club, but they are mostly to walk us to the car, let us know if the cops are coming, or to escort the customomers that get too drunk
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
The floor guys, kitchen guys, valet guys, etc, can be used as security. Even the bartenders. Unfortunately, no one is watching you every second there, but that's just the way it is in Texas. Hence, extras are common and full-contact is a must....
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
Bouncers can be good and bad. Some bouncers breathe down the customers necks so much it affects dance sales, and also some bouncers will hound a dancer for dancing too close only if they are not getting tipped enough.
Texas clubs usually hire multiple managers on a shift instead of bouncers. Managers are like Sgt. Schultz on Hogans Heroes. They see nothing, hear nothing and say nothing.
They know sex is part of the framework that allows the clubs to survive, but don't want it going on blatantly in view.
When I was working in Houston at St. James, a manager inadvertently saw a little blow job action going on and asked me to go over to the dancer and her customer and tell them to stop it. Obviously he didn't want that kind of activity going on within "his" view so that he could claim ignorance if vice came in. That same girl asked me if I had any gum, because she had "dick breath".
If a dancer works in a region of the country where two way contact is the norm, she is forced to accept and tolerate it, or not make money.
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
^ Yeah pretty much.
However, I would much rather have more leeway then constantly have to watch over my shoulder afraid I'm going to get fined for something.
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
I've worked in Houston, and the club I worked for always had two bouncers on Fri and Sat, one on the other days, and they had a security guard there every day of the week, but its one of the few clubs around Houston that actually has good security for things like that.
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
The "managers" and floorguys are bouncers, they just get a fancy job title. Believe me, they are the same goons, just in suits. BUT, in Grace's defence, it would be nice to have a couple more guys. I mean shit, Frank and Ron are old as hell. And little Wilbur, ugh. It would also be nice for them to have APD outside at club closing. I was never escorted to my car.
AND, when they did have throwdowns, it would suck to have the GM, or the DJ have to step in there to stop it. But think about it this way Grace. If there were bouncers, that would just be another mouth to feed at the club. I seriously doubt cheap-ass Bill would pay them anything!
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
^^It's true. I'm sure having a bouncer would suck in it's own special way. But I am sick to death of hearing various versions of "Go ahead, grab my dick, no one's watching." Motherfucker, I am watching.
Re: damn I wish my club had bouncers (grumble)
LOL
Made me think about which out of town customers are worse: Houston, Dallas or Austin. Last night it was grabby Austin customer night. bleh.
