Current people who work in adult film industry?
I know i've seen post of people who have done it in the past. But I was wondering if anybody was currently doing it. I've done it off and on for 6 years. Haven't been able to get that big break yet where the films were really put out there on the market. However, I'm kind of looking to move and if I could find an area that has a more reputatible company it may sway my decision a lot. If you dont wanna post in here that you do films or anything just PM me.

LA is the main place to find work in the adult industry so I would say go there if your serious about working, but maybe just visit first to see if you like it.

Well, the "capitol" of adult filmmaking is here in "The Valley" - the northern part of Los Angeles.
If you want to do this on a full time basis, you really need an agent. The biggest, and probably most respected, is World Modeling.
http://www.worldmodeling.com/
And be careful - there are alot of "scam" agencies. For instance, stay away - FAR FAR AWAY from Regan Senter's Beautiful Models International
http://www.beautifulmodels.com/
His contracts pretty much screw you - and you have to screw him to get signed. He's sleaze.
Here's an interesting article on adult agencies:
http://www.kapelovitz.com/agents.htm
Though there are a number or small reputable companies too. Just be careful.
Having said all this, another method is getting in with a good production company like Vivid or Dark Brothers.
----
The reality:
Typically, you can make from $350 to $800 per "scene". Each scene takes around 2 hours to setup and film. You might get one to three scenes in a film.
The reality is that you probably won't make a living just from the adult film world, unless you make some strong connections and are very focused. Every "porn star" that I know personally (including some whose names you might recognize) makes the bulk of their money escorting, dancing, or doing some other work, and their adult videos just help them to get higher rates as an escort.
People like Jenna or Danni are few and far between - and there, they made themselves into a brand, with ownership. And as in most businesses, ownership is where the *real* money is at.
Other things to know:
TO work in the industry, you need to be tested for HIV and a few other things by AIM (Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation)
http://www.aim-med.org/
Your tests need to be updated *every month*. Usually, you have to pay for these yourself, at least when you're first starting (about $120 for a set of basic tests). Some production companies pay, and take it out of or include is as part of your fee.
----
Incidentally, we are producing a series with actress/star Mae Victoria in the next few weeks, and looking for new talent. If you are close to the Los Angeles are, contact me by PM, and get me a face picture.
And best of luck

Okie dokie, here's my spiel again. I am CURRENTLY in the adult film industry. I've done about 50+ in the past year and I have made plenty of money WITHOUT being an escort. Yes, alot of girls do it, but if you don't put all your money up your nose/drink it/whatever, you can make a good living. It's a job just like anything else, and you have to treat it as such.
I have a kick ass agent who is a *smaller* agent, but he takes damn good care of me. I don't work with any weird guys with a camera in a hotel room. I work with Hustler, New Sensations, Red Light District, 3rd Degreee, Suze Randall, Earl Miller, etc. He checks out everything before he sets up a shoot, and I am yet to have to do any kind of weird 'favors' to have him book shoots for me. He lets me stay with him in a nice apartment for free/little money, and treats every girl he has like family. We go to movies, out to dinner, to the mall, stuff like that. He knows my limits and respects them, and if there is something he is not sure about, he asks me before he books me. There are a ton of asshole agents who will screw you over and work you to death. If you want an agent go to Sexyjobs or TheFloatingWorld, they have lists of agents. You can contact them until you find one you like. Don't settle on somebody you are not comfortable with. Be firm on your limits and don't give in to something you don't want to do.
I make more than $800 per scene, I get paid more than that to do a solo shoot, so you can make good money if your agent knows what he's doing. He (my agent) is not going to send me to a shoot for $500. I am yet to be on a set that has hair, makeup, stills, video, etc. in 2 hours or less. More like 3 1/2 or so. Not all of it is in front of the camera, but it takes a while on a set.
My AIM test is $120 a month if I go into AIM in LA. If I do a test by mail (because I don't live in LA) it is $150. It's good for 30 days, and the other talent has to show you their test paper. DON'T BELIEVE THE TEST IS GOOD JUST BECAUSE THEY SHOW YOU THE PAPER!! I call AIM no matter who I am working with to make sure they have a current test. People do shady shit and try to get away with stuff.
Ok, I think I am done for the moment. Just wanted to answer a couple of the OP's question and add onto this message.
And if I do remember correctly Jim South was taking an extended vacation at the moment. Well, it went from him closing the agency, to taking a vacation, to Jim Jr. running things for a while, so it could have changed at some point. (Not being a bitch, but out of all the sets I have been on, including people shooting scenes before and after mine, I've only met one person booked by World Modeling. They have a ton of girls, but most of them don't get booked. It's not worth the plane ticket, testing fees, etc. if you go with an agent that can't get you booked. Just because they tell you on the phone or through email that they *can* book you doesn't mean you will actually get booked. I don't get on a plane until I know I have bookings waiting on me. No use wasting time waiting for a booking to happen.)
Re: Current people who work in adult film industry?
Who's your agent? It sounds like he gets you lots of *good* work, and it sounds like your agent is very professional - which has not been the norm in my experience.
That's interesting to hear about Jim South - we never have used World Modeling in any of our shoots since we work with smaller ones like StudioUltra and Powers Prods.
Also, I didn't mean to imply that *all* actresses also escorted, just all the ones I know...
:)

Re: Current people who work in adult film industry?
Ginger...I seriously need to get a new agent. I'm really new in the industry, but I'm currently getting about $300-$1000 a scene and I'd like to up my price.
Oh...and I have not and will not ever do escorting...and none of the porn actresses I know do either. Yes, there are some who do....just like there are plenty of strippers who escort on the side(or in the club)...but to say that its all or even a large percentage is insulting. We all chose what we do.....and one profession does not necessarily equal another.
Re: Current people who work in adult film industry?
PM'd you 'bout agent situation Cameron.
Re: Current people who work in adult film industry?
^^ thanks ginger....much appreciated! Hopefully they'll get back to me and I can start banking!
