Have any of you ever done this? I think it'd be something I'd like to try.
If you tried it how did it go and where did you get your costume/pieces for the costume?
I know she's a very popular character and they just came out with a new game. }:D

i know a LOT of girls who have done this. it seems quite popular, although personally i think you need to be very athletic and have long dark hair to pull it off properly.
as for costumes, they're really hard to find. dreamgirl lingerie have a "boy raider" costume, but it's not that great. i haven't been able to find a really nice one anywhere online, you may be better off getting one custom made if you really want one.
You figure if you just find clothes and boots like it, do the braids, and figure out the harness system for her guns and knives, you'd be good. It's not like you need the exact shorts/shirt.
I did Lara Croft one Halloween maybe 6 yrs ago(before I went blonde). Are you going for classic Croft and her Tomb Raider costume or the Angelina Jolie movie version? I have no idea where to get that shiny suit like in the movie, but the game outfit is easy. The video game costume of tank top, khaki shorts and boots is a snap to find since those are all normal clothes. You can find cheap hiking boots at walmart, and they also should still have mini-backpacks in the purse section. The leg-harness-holster thing I had to make myself with black elastic from the sewing department. I couldn't find any realistic toy guns, so I bought the neon colored water guns and painted them. The gun holsters were part of a kids cowboy costume. Just cut and sew the black elastic to strap around your thighs, attach the cowboy holsters to a belt and your straps and you are good to go. It was a last minute idea but everything managed to come together and everyone loved the outfit. I'm sure yours will be even better if you are already planning it.
I've actually wanted to have the most authentic Lara costume since I because obsessed with the games a few years back. She's on of my idols. I had boots once but a cat decided they were chewy... =/ Her shirts/shorts/pants/ect are all easy and i have haha BB guns but I'm assuming I can't take those to the club they're more for pictures I guess. I have another pair of boots that fit me well and would work. The hardest thing for me were the gun holsters, I just feel totally lost on that part I know nothing about guns or holsters. I have the perfect glasses too (I found for a quarter at a flea market =) )
If I danced in a Lara costume should I get platform "stripper" boots that look similar or try the more "traditional" boots? I probably won't be trying this for at least a month though. I'm pretty picky on how all of my costumes look no matter what they're for.
I did it 7 yrs ago for Halloween. I was Lara, hubby was Indiana Jones, and the baby (who's 7 now) was pikachu, lol!Quote:
