I've been hearing this term here and there.
Checked it out online and got the recipe and instructions.
Anyone here try it?
Good points? Bad points?

i've been hearing it too but only cause beyonce said she did it lose weight for her new movie
hmmm. Yeah, I didn't know that. I didn't think it was a 'trendy' thing. Been around for a while. I just don't know anyone whose done it. That's why I figured I'd check out if any of the girls here have...
My art teacher in high school used to do it every so often. She was one of my coolest teachers, but we'd watch out when she's on that 'cause she'd become the most evil severe mood swing bitch I'd ever seen in real life or tv. She always ended up all glowy and noticibly thinner at the end of one though.
Do you really not eat for 10 days on this? I wonder how anyone could do this. Wouldn't it actually be detrimental to your metabolism in the long run?
There is a master cleanse forum and info at curezone.com
I hear it's very good, but have never tried it as yet.
I've done it. Its fine. I recommend it if you are feeling like you need a cleanse. Its a great way to start a more healthy way of eating.
I read about this about a month ago when Beyonce came out and said she lost 6kg after being on it for 2 weeks so I'm like hello! Maybe this will finally be the solution for me lol. So yeah, I'm jumping on the bandwagon too.
I bought the ingredients a couple days ago (couldn't find the Natural Life Maple Syrup, the one that we're meant to used) so I picked up some other 100% Organic Maple Syrup from a health food store instead. It should be the same I think.
I've tried this Master Cleanse, like oh... twice? And both times I caved in! It's so difficult being on a liquid diet when you wake up to the smell of freshly baked pastry every morning (thanks mum haha). But after reading this thread, I'm determined to try it again. Hopefully it'll be successful this time after I've publicised it here for all to see.
Fingers crossed I won't fall back this time around. :crossfing
I don't know that I could go the whole ten days. Sounds too scary to only be putting one thing in your body for that period of time. Still hoping for more input from others.
the recipe is 12oz warm water, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp grade b maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper.
my dad swears by it and my brother's saxophone teacher does it for as long as 30 days at a time every year or so. heh.
i've done it before, but after 2 days of no food i felt like i might fall over at any moment so i added a little bit of dark green vegetables and chicken breasts. i doubt it is as effective that way, but still better than nothing...
You should not use just ANY maple syrup (even 100% organic). The best syrup to use is one that is VERY dark (which means that it did not go through much processing). The less the syrup is processed means the more nutrients, etc that are in it.Quote:

After some research, I found out that you can take spirulina (high protein alge) in addition to any juice fast. It's got more protein than any meat or soy product and won't interfere with the cleansing process.
It comes in pill form and you can get it in any healthfood store. I'm getting mine from the vitamin shoppe.
This would be of particular interest to anyone suffering from hypoglycemia, like me, who would like to do a juice fast.
Edited to Add: I'm going to take half of the recommended dosage. After all, the juice fast is meant to cleanse your liver and kidneys. Adding a ton of protein would be detrimental to this process.
The hardest part of the cleanse is the first 3 days or so. After that, its a breeze. What the cleanse does is give your liver and kidneys a break and a chance to really clean out...Quote:

There's no harm in attempting the cleanse. It is not for everyone (preference) and you try it...if you like it, you keep doing it...if not, you move on. No harm, no foul.
Good luck!
I live in Australia and have searched high and low for Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup and cannot find it for the life of me, so that's why I had to settle for the organic maple syrup instead.
I'm pretty sure the one I'm using is B grade. It's very dark and has a strong aroma to it as opposed to the usual maple flavoured sugar syrup. Also, it hasn't been treated with formaldehyde which makes it acceptable, right?
Im interested in doing this cleanse also. I have a few questions.
Does this actually taste ok, or is it at least tolerable?
The salt water flush you are supposed to do. Nasty stuff. Can you leave that out?
I hate spicy or hot things. Can you leave the Cayanne out of the drink, and take a cayanne pill instead?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE curezone.com can't recommend it enough! I would DEFINITELY check it out Katherine. This site holds a wealth of information... you will find all your answer's there.Quote:

This is such a dangerous fast. I tried it for 2 days & got freaked out. The Master Cleanse site's "Brief Summary" is a load of bunk. "Hot" feces are from the cayenne & citric acid burning the colon & rectum, NOT "toxins." (Have you ever had really hot Mexican food? Or hot curry? Same thing!)
Not eating for 10 to 20 days is a HUNGER STRIKE, not a fast. A fast is 3-4 days.
I don't care who flames me for this. There are safer ways to cleanse the GI tract.
yeah hmm...it's bad i know, but i used to drink that laxative tea a lot. it's very popular in asian supermarkets, known as the "detox slim tea" or whatever, and you can buy different strengths depending on what laxative is in it.
anyways, i was reading a girl's personal journal on her doing this fast...and i have to say, all the symptoms she experienced, i experienced JUST from drinking this tea - and it wasn't safe.
the pain, the cramping, the burning, all happened from drinking this tea and then a lot of water. not feeling hungry - the tea would do that too. the cramping going away the more and more i did - that happened too, because there was nooo food.
and the removal of mucosa? once i had managed to crap out everything, the mucosa came out too. it was painful, and scary, and it was the last straw in me purging like this.
i really can't see how a fast that involves this kind of thing can be THAT safe?
No flames here MM! I'm not planning to do this particular program myself. I posted the protein information as a tip to people who could really hurt themselves if suffering from an underlying condition.Quote:

If someone's ass is on fire from this cleanse, then they are using WAY too much Cayenne pepper. I cannot eat spicey foods, and I've never had this problem. I don't put as much cayenne pepper in it. I've done the cleanse for 10 days and I've never had any issues. It's not to clean the GI tract...its a cleanse which is to give the liver and kidneys a break and a cleanse (that's what the ingredients are for).
The other thing I didn't bring up is...how many people can spare 10 days without food? I have a job where if I couldn't perform at work due to being off my game from no food, I'd get fired.
I could see this diet done in moderation, but this man's claims of 20 days without a problem sound far-fetched.
I use more than the "half a pinch" of cayenne pepper that's recommended. I actually use something like 3 whole pinches. I'm a chilli fanatic and love the rush it gives me, especially when I drink it warm. I've read through the Master Cleanse guidelines so far and it hasn't said anything about ravaging the intestines.
I was meant to start the programme today, but I've got a BBQ this Sunday and a 21st next where I'm expected to eat. So I'm going to have to put it off again.
I did this diet when I was dancing and a mommy. Didn't do much to slow me down there. My mom's done this cleanse for 20-30 days with no negative side effects...so, I dunno what to tell ya.Quote:

Just because you don't THINK something can be done doesn't mean that it cannot be or that its no good.
Thanks for all the input everyone!!
I've checked out curezone. Wow is what I gotta say about that.
I have a couple of weddings and business dinner meetings over the next two/three weeks.
So I'm going to start right after my already booked engagements are over.
Wish it were now!
Would I be able to do this diet too? I'm anemic...
