Losing weight/ideal weight
ok, so this may be a really annoying question, but i was wondering how much weight i need to lose before i start dancing. I had a baby 2 months ago, and my body has bounced back pretty well i think! I'm 5'6 and weigh 146lbs and i'm 34D-30-36
i'm just unsure how much more to lose, i know i need to lose some, but i'm not quite sure how much. I think my main problem is my tummy, it's a little soft and jiggly :p but i used to be bulimic, so i don't have the best perspective sometimes! lol thank you for reading my pointless waffle :D
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
i don't think there is any specific weight you need to be when you dance, or an amount you need to lose. at my club there are waifs, and there are chunkier girls. they all do well. it's all about how you carry yourself and how you present yourself.
be what you're comfortable with. different weights look different on different people. for me, gaining a kilo is realllllllllllllly noticeable because i'm very short and have a small frame, but for some a kilo is absolutely nothing.
just eat well and work out regularly and you will be the size and weight you should be! :)
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
exactly that^^^^ Your body is YOUR body. Just focus on healthy foods and staying active and you will do just fine! If you have a certain idea in mind of what you want your body to look like, maybe talk to a trianer (just talk) and find out if that is even possible. I know from friends who had eating disorders that many times the image they held is not even one they could attain. So they needed a little reality check in that area.
If YOU feel sexy and you are comfortable, then you are where you should be.
Good Luck
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
if you dont love urself and ur body image, your most likely not going to do well hustling for dances.. no matter if you are overweight or underweight.. keep ur head up and feel good about urself and the customers can tell :)
I'm not in the best shape as a dancer in vegas.. and i hate going on diets because they always fail sometime or another (unless u learn how to change ur eating lifestyle forever)..
What keeps me in "ok" shape for now is to work 3-5 days a week at night and I just eat whatever (im a huge junk eater.. i know its bad) I want before I go to work.. get ready around 4pm.. work by 5pm.. leave around 2-3am.. and wont eat anything at work or when i get home

Ha, you're built kinda like me except my boobs are bigger, and my waist is just a tad bit smaller. Anywho, how much weight are you trying to lose? Go with what you are most comfortable with. For me, I actually like being this weight and when I'm not dancing...alot thicker. But I know what I like...I have no desire to weigh 105lbs. If you're trying to lose, increase your cardio and lift weights. If you want to maintain do cardio maybe 3x per week with some weights.
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
You need to post a photo...but rough guideline, I think your waist shouldn't be bigger than 28" if you're 5'6".
I mean to be in stripper-shape...you can probably make money before you get there.
As the others have said, it's about how comfortable you are-

Thanks everyone :)

Thankyou! :D i like specific goals :p lol, yes i'm odd
i've been eating healthy and walking a lot. i'm going to join a gym soon i think, but i don't like leaving my daughter alone at the moment!
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
It's all about your personal body type. You can be 30 pounds heavier then the girl next to you, but if it suits you you would end up looking the same. Does that make sense?
For instance...I am 5'7", 130-135 pounds. Which could be considered pretty big compared to the lollipop head stick figures that are all the rage today(paris, nicole, etc..etc..). But most of my weight is solid muscle(there is about 10 pounds I'd like to get rid of and/or tighten more) so, while I am certainly not "skinny"...I'm not "fat" either. But theres another girl I work with who is my height and weight....but looks like she is 6 months pregnant...just because thats how she carries it.(she isnt preg BTW...just a heavy drinker). So dont put TOO much stock in what the scale says...go by how your clothes fit to determine if you are really making progress.
If you find a decent gym they will have trainers there that can tell you not only what your ideal weight is for your body type, but how to achieve it.
Good luck!
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
thanks :D yeh, i think the gym is a good idea, and yes, i know my 'natural' weight is around this point, and i definitely look ridiculous at 100lbs, but i'm thinking somewhere inbetween the two would be good! at the moment i'm thinking either 120 or 112, which is an achievable goal in 10 months :) just need to keep convincing myself that there's no need to lose 5lbs a week :P I know about the scales, i try to pay more attention to measurements etc lol
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
it's all about the person i think. some women don't suit being skinny and vice versa. i'm still planning on loosing another 6 pounds, i think i'd look odd any thinner than that tho. ( i'm 5ft7 and 136 pounds 38-27-38 )
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
No one's ever happy with their exact weight! I'm 5'9'' and 130 and want to lose 2% bodyfat.
You just gotta love what you got! (To repeat, like, every single person here)
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
Geezus lord! I'm 5'2", and weigh approx. 125. Yeah, that apparently sounds fat, but oh hell no! I'm perfectly volumptuous in all the right spots! In fact, no matter who I vent to about shedding ten lbs, I get the same reaction, "from where?" I LOVE myself! And it shows, and thusly, I make $$$.
But this is just it girl; you've overcome an eating disorder, which means a skewed body perception. You might not ever be completely satisfied with your self image. you want to be between 120, 112???? You're 5'6". 130 lbs is a more realistic (and healthy) goal. Remember all those old paintings of volumptious women with rounded bellys? That was considered sexy then. Women should have meat, curves, a tad bit soft and squishy! Embrace the squishiness!
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
he he he, yes, the squishiness is good :P *squishes* and i do have good boobs.... :D lol i just need to work on the tummy
Re: Losing weight/ideal weight
Different men like different shape/size women i'm probs one of the thinnest my partners ever dated and i'm a 12 he doesn't find skinny women at all sexy. I find generally older men go for curvier women. Just cos a womans not a size 8-10 doesn't mean shes not sexy If we were all the same height/weight had same hair style men would get bored of watching strippers.
