Re: My First Pair Of Shoes.
I wear a 6.5-7. I always wear 6s. Given how much you're going to sweat, it's better to go smaller than bigger. Also, if they're plastic, they'll stretch. If you want to stretch them ahead of time, get a pot of hot water (not boiling) and place your shoes in it. Give it a minute to get pliable, then take them out and put them on. If you can, walk around in them. As they cool, they will mold to your feet and you should be fine. When they're cool, take them off and let them dry fully before your shift.
If the toe strap starts digging into your feet during your shift, try NuSkin, that liquid bandage stuff to prevent your skin from shearing off. Bandaids look trashy and are really creepy when they fall off onstage. Even creepier for the girl up after you. Stranger bandaids are just plain gross. Best of luck.
Re: My First Pair Of Shoes.
I've also heard of many dancers using a hair dryer to help soften up the plastic and help make it more pliable. Just be sure your don't apply the heat too long and melt the plastic.

Re: My First Pair Of Shoes.
Thanks guys. These tricks worked *perfectly*.
I think it also helped that I wore knee socks.
Re: My First Pair Of Shoes.
I usually wear a 6.5 but always buy a 6 for open toed and bump up to 7 for closed toed (especially boots).
They'll hurt for awhile, but you really do get used to them.
Re: My First Pair Of Shoes.
I wear a shoe size eight but am a nine in stripper shoes. Funny, I've never heard of them being comparable, before. They're always different.
