I'm in desperate need of assistance!
This is really long, but please bear with me and read!!
Last night, I got home from work at 8pm and just out of the blue, this thought came in my head. Maybe I should just go to the strip club tonight to check it out. It was totally an impulsive decision, but I actually jumped in the shower, did my hair and re-did my makeup, danced around in my livingroom, wearing nothing but panties and a towel which eventually fell off, and then headed out the door.
I called the club and asked if there would be a manager there that night that I could speak to about applying for a dancing position. The girl that I spoke with was named Michelle, and she wasn't the kindest person over the phone. I think she was a bit irritated because I called like 3 times before asking various questions. She told me that they always have a manager working, and that I could come in anytime during that night to fill out an application and speak with him if he had time.
While walking to the front door of the club, a really hot guy stopped me and asked me if I was going inside to meet someone. He had a name tag that said "Dillon" and "Valet" on it. I told him I was going in to talk to a manager about possibly applying for a job in entertainment. He said they usually require young ladies to go in with a male escort (probably either to keep the prostitutes out, or just simply to protect the women) but if I wanted to just go in and talk to Michelle at the front desk, she could help me get started with the application process. He then proceeded to shake my hand, introduce himself, and guide me into the lobby.
I saw Michelle, and she looked just like she acted... like a bitch. I introduced myself, told her I was the one that called, and asked if I could have a seat and fill out an application. She handed me one and said the manager, Jim, was in a meeting right now, but she would have him call me back tomorrow. I filled the app. out (On the part where it asks me my professional name, I hadn't chosen a good stage name yet, so I put "Hazel" - my eye color. Is that pretty?) and handed it back to her. Just as I was giving it to her, Jim walked into the lobby. He was an older man (probably mid to late 50's) and had the most evil look on his face. I was hoping he was going to be a young, handsome man that at least showed a bit of interest in me. I was way off.
After Michelle took a picture of me with her Polaroid camera and stapled it to my application, she asked Jim if he had a minute to talk to me. He took me into the bar area, we sat down, and he noticed on my application that I said I would ideally want to work graveyard shifts, and that I was unable to work daytime. He said that if I'm a newbie, I'm required to work in the daytime. He never smiled, not once. I asked if there was any way to get around the day shift requirement, and he said no. I said "ok" and left, politely. As I was walking out, Michelle said in a very sarcastic tone "Sorry." I was kind, and wished her a good night. She didn't seem like the kind of person I wanted to work with anyway. She had a nice body, but she carried this look on her face that made her look like she was constantly smelling something awful. I guess those are the type of people I'd have to deal with, though, right?
I thought at first that this was a horrible night, and that I might as well give up. But then I thought that it was possibly just a bad night, or maybe I just wasn't supposed to disturb the management at night - they were probably way too busy to worry about a newbie. So this morning, I called again and spoke with a much nicer girl. She offered me a few minutes of her time, and answered some of my questions.
I told her I came in last night and spoke with Jim, and she had this tone in her voice sounding like she pitied me. She said "You should probably come in during a day shift and speak with Dave. You'll probably have much better luck with him! Jim is one of those kinda people that will just tell you flat out if he doesn't want to hire you." So that made me feel a bit better. She said I should wait to get my license until after I audition, look around the club (which I never really even got to see), and am hired. That way, if I either don't get hired, or don't like it, I don't throw away the $500 I'd spend on a business license.
She was very sweet, and I told her I'd probably come in on Monday. She did confirm that since I'm new, I will be required to work the day shift, no matter which manager I speak with. So that means if I get the job, I'll quit the one I have now. I know, it's probably not a great idea, and I'm still thinking about whether or not I'll go through with it. I'm getting booted from this apartment complex job before November 4th anyway because they're getting a new manager here, so why not quit the temp agency to work for the club!?
I could be making $2400 a month at the club, that's $800 more per month than I'm making now. If I continue working at the strip club for over a month or so, maybe they'll let me move to night shift and I'll try and get re-hired through Office Team (temp agency). Am I totally insane about all of this?! If I can get enough money to start taking my online classes for medical transcribing, I can work from home doing an office job anyway. Then I could work the club and the transcribing, which could mean up to $5400 a month!!!
Eventually, I could buy a car, go back to school to get my major in psychology, I could get a boob job (I want to augment my breasts :-), and totally support myself, without needing to rely on a man!
If I go in on Monday, prepared to audition and be interviewed, speak with Dave, and get hired, I'll have to buy my business license within the next week or so after that. Then, I'll have to give my notice to the temp agency. The business license is $500 - I don't have that money right now. But not all hope is lost...
I could get a loan. Probably not a great idea, but I could pay it off within time (if I got the job, of course). The interest rates on loans are huge, though, if I'm understanding it correctly, that is. It says that on a loan that lasts a week has a 938.57% interest rate, a loan that lasts 10 days has a 657% rate, and a loan that lasts 17 days has a 386.47% interest rate.
But then that would mean that a $500 loan that lasts a week would cost me $4692.85 to pay off (I moved the decimal point to the left 2 spaces and multiplied), at 10 days would cost $3285.00, and at 17 days would be $1932.35 to pay off. Shouldn't it cost more money the longer you keep the loan for? Ahh well I hate this math crap! This is the exact reason why I dropped out of my bookkeeping/accounting class... I'm definitely not a math genius!! Anyone know how these interest rates go?! I could really use the assistance!
Is it really worth it to get a loan? And how long do you think it'd take me to pay the loan off??
There's probably a lot of details that could've been left out, but I wanted to give everyone a bit of a background about my situation, in hopes for advice in return!!

Oh okay. I got too focused on the absolute dollar figure. Heh.
Okay so she's really only paying just under 20% on her money; borrowing $500 and paying back $590. That's not too bad.
Mocha, here's how the calculations are acutually working
Week: $500 x 938.57% = $4,692.85 per year / 365 days in a year = $12.86 per day x 7 days = $90.00 in interest or a total of $590.00
10 days: $500 x 657% = $3,285 per year / 365 days in a year = $9.00 per day x 10 days = $90.00 in interest or a total of $590.00
17 days: $500 x 386.47% = $1,932.35 per year / 365 days in a year = $5.29 per day x 17 days = $90.00 in interest or a total of $590.00
$90 / $500 = 18% <---- Effective interest paid on your money

Sorry, but I am dying laughing. Did your ever put your clothes on when the towel fell off or did you head out the door that way???
Re: I'm in desperate need of assistance!
I thought the same thing when I read that. It would certainly explain the friendly valet and the dirty looks from front desk girl *lol*
Re: I'm in desperate need of assistance!
what club was it that you went to?

Oh my gosh, thank you soooo much for your help with that! I was thinking it was gonna cost me thousands of dollars to pay off the loan, but I guess it won't be that bad at all! Thank you again TONS!

I went to a club here in Reno, Nevada called "FQ [French Quarter] Men's Club" ...
The other clubs here in Reno seem to have a bad rep (Wild Orchid, Fantasy Girls, and Spice House)
