nightmare before xmas tunes
They're re-releasing the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack on Tuesday, with new versions by Marilyn Manson ("This Is Halloween"), fiona apple, panic at the disco, fall out boy, and she wants revenge. Could be entertaining. There are short clips on the site, click on the soundtrack at the bottom right.

Actually, it was originally released by Touchstone Pictures which was owned by Disney...thereby making it a Disney-Touchstone movie. The only reason they didn't release it through the actual Walt Disney Co. was because of the darker content.
And Tim Burton did not direct it; he was the co-producer. Henry Selick was the director. It was loosely based on Tim Burton's drawings and poem.
God I sound like a geek, lol! Don't hate on Disney....

^To answer your question, Vampira, they've rereleased the movie in theaters over here, but now it's in 3-D. That's why the rerelease of the soundtrack. It's a double disc, the original is still intact, the second disc has the cover versions. I can't believe no one covered the Oogie Boogie Song, though. Oh and DylanAngel is 100% correct about the movie not being directed by Burton, and the Disney thing.
Re: nightmare before xmas tunes
I got the tracks. The Manson one is cool, but sounds a bit muddy. The Fall Out Boy cover of "What's This?" is pretty good, and the standout actually quite playable track is She Wants Revenge doing "Kidnap The Sandy Claws". Fun stuff.

That movie freaked me out for some reason when I first saw it. I like Tim Burton now but...that movie...***shivers***
Soundtrack sounds pretty cool, though.
