TM, have you heard Yummy, Don't Get It Twisted, Now That You Got It, Candyland and Wonderful Life? I think these are my faves. I have to admit, there are one or two songs on the album that make me go WTF? but this album has def grown on me!

Its the wierd ass music she has coming out that has been growing on me. I listened to the tracks to her latest and I have to say they are fun to listen to. Though Im not sure if Id want anyone catching me rockin out to it in my car yet.
I've heard the whole album. I still want to stab her in the eyes with pointy chopsticks. Is it playable at the SC? Yup. But, if we're going to start with what I play that sucks and actually gives me hives...oh good sweet baby jesus that would be a lengthy list. In fact, I need to start a new ranty ranty mcranterson thread about the bullshit some of you ladies ask for. WHO THE FUCK REMAKES "SHE'S LIKE THE WIND"? SERIOUSLY. "Hey, I'll randomly spew inane gibberish, and oh...why dont you sing the hook from the gayest song ever made!?! We'll make millions!". Ungh.
And, Nautilus, I find that a bowl of fuck is delicious served either hot or cold. I personally like it room temperature. It's best when eaten with a spork and a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon. In a can, natch. Pottymouth, pottymouth.
I caught the Madonna-ish references too. Not sure if she was trying to 'do something' or is just unoriginal. The beat is decent, but the song overall is just typical mainstream radio crap.
whoa, akon is involved in a song *not* about strippers / smacking asses or prisons and it's just out? lol.
I got the cd for Christmas & I think my current fave is Yummy.
I think that would be a great thread!
The dancers would of course be able to contribute, since they have to listen to what all the other dancers ask for, as well, lol! But we DJs would have a ball with this, especially.
Hell, I'd start one now, except I'm too tired and it was your idea first.
There's going to be differences of opinion, of course. I find myself liking some pop a lot (even if I loathe and despise most of it), surprisingly enough--for all I know I'll like this (or already have liked it, haha! see below) I haven't heard this yet that I know of, but I get asked to play a lot of stuff I have no idea who does it, except that I can play it, it'll work, etc. If it's schlock pop, as so much of it is, I try as much as I can to filter it out.
I won't get pop unless someone who tips really well really wants it, someone brings it in and keeps asking for it over and over again (well OK, then they got it, so I didn't, lol), or sometimes if I hear something actually cool in another club or whatever. This saves me a great deal of aggravation.
The humor in your writing makes it a lot easier to accept a song getting ripped up if we on very, very rare occasions disagree.
I try to resist criticizing music I think other people will like--to each their own and all that--but as you might recall I was unable to resist verbally ripping Louis deVito a new asshole--after being forced to play it repeatedly when I first started at the new club. I did try to make it funny, though, and obviously a rant.
So hurry up and start a good rant thread, it's been too long (I still think of PhillyDJ's immortal rant from the booth thread quite fondly).
Aaahh!!!!!!!. I love gwen stefani. and I the sound of music is my fav musical I have the dvd and i play the songs super loud in car all the time. I know geeky but I love it.
Once in a while a geeky song or artist will come out, I'll like it, and then I feel like a hypocrite for ripping the shit out of something on exactly the same level, lol.
Now I'm dying to see if I have heard this, and whether I might actually like it, you never know. I wasn't impressed by the Sound of Music, so probably not.
But whoever said something about Akon's choice of themes made me crack up--I'm already sick to death of that fucking "Smack That" song they are fighting over in the club.
I just noticed her song Yummy has the words Wind it Up in it too.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH MAKING ALL HER SONGS ON THE CDS HAVE THE SAME GODDAMN WORDS IN THEM?!
I don't like this song. Not even a wee bit.
"I know he thinks yer fine an stuff but does he know how ta wind you up?!"
Aaagggh. *covers ears*
i'm a huge gwen fan, since i was 11, and i think it's because everything she does goes together. why it says wind it up in yummy, i don't know.
but her handbags (mine cost $600) have locks on them, which are optionally used, but you CAN lock them! The key to these such locks will be released soon, i hear. It's on the necklace she keeps wearing. Another $300 at least I'm sure.
It just seems like everything she does links with something else.
She sells something that locks without the keys? o.O
I can't explain it... it comes as an extra, but if you buy the key, you can lock your bag.
it's pure marketing genius.
I won't be buying the key though, I am not a fan of gold.
