Section 8 housing?
Hey guys, a bud and I are gonna move into a new apt as roomies, and it turns out that the place we liked best has section 8 units available (where you pay less if you make less).
For anyone else that has gone with that I have a question- they want paystubs and we can provide em, but they also asked for work addy/number/fax- do they just wanna know that to verify you work there or do they want to verify your paystubs, or both?
Because where we work (not SC btw, this is our regular dayjob) our supervisor would be the one to verify our employment, but he wouldn't have a clue what we make as that's done seperately by the payroll dept.
??? TIA!

Re: Section 8 housing?
I guess if they need to verify emplyment, they will talk to him and then he can refer them to the payroll department so they can verify your income.

Re: Section 8 housing?
You can get bounced out of the Section 8 program for making too much money......I've never been on it but dozens of people back home got kicked off for not being low-income anymore. & Boy were they mad! So watch your finances & have a fund in case you need to move.

Re: Section 8 housing?
I don't think SHE'S on section 8, I think she was just saying that the building they're looking to get into accepts section 8...although I have no idea what that has to do with her question, anyways.
You would give the number to your direct supervisor and he can pass the additional inquiries onto whoever else would handle them. Although, if I am not mistaken, HR is not allowed to verify or deny income. They can only verify or deny that you work there. To prove income, you provide your paycheck...so I don't know what your potential landlord is wanting verbal approval for income for...he won't get it.

Re: Section 8 housing?
I think she is trying to get into those section 8 apartments. I REALLY REALLY hope you're not trying to have to pay only the Section 8 rate. I hope that's not your plan.
Anyway, just because a building opens their doors to Section 8 recipients does not mean that's all they accept. Still go and inquire about the apartment, and find out how much it is per month.
They want your work number for a reference. Just give them the number. More than likely they'll want to know your work record..you know how long you've been employed through them etc.

Re: Section 8 housing?
You have to apply for a Section8 voucher or certificate. Generally there are waiting lists years long. You can read more here:
