Yes, there is a perception at least that Playboy mag is in a class by itself. Certainly the modeling fees Playboy pays to Playmates are in a class by themselves, but then again they also require agreement that you'll make personal appearances on behalf of Playboy for a certain period of time etc. The modeling fees paid for 'girls of ___ " and other types of Playboy related media do carry the 'I appeared in Playboy' psychological reward (which is significant since Playboy is extremely picky), but don't carry any huge amount of financial reward. Also, Playboy policy esssentially disqualifies girls who have appeared in any other 'lesser' magazine first, which leads to a dilemma of waiting around for months or years to hear a yes or no from Playboy versus taking the money and the photo credits from appearing in a 'lesser' magazine (which are far easier to get into).
