Zoom Whitening
I got Zoom Whitening done on my teeth yesterday, and all I can say is WOW! I got a really good deal on it through my dentist, and I couldn't be happier. I've always dreamed of having pretty white teeth, and I've always been mortified by pictures of myself because all I saw was my ugly yellow teeth. My dentist did the whitening in 20-minute cycles. Four cycles was enough to turn my dark yellow teeth into normal white teeth, and next week I'm going back for another two or three cycles to get them as bright white as teeth can get!
I was a B3 in color, and now I'm an A2. I will be A1, the whitest, after next week's treatment. The dentist is also giving me a mouth tray and some bleach gel so I can maintain it over time.
The procedure is pretty uncomfortable; you have to just lie there the whole time with this light shining in your mouth, you can't see anything or move your head, and they stretch your lips so wide it really hurts after awhile. And you can't have anything staining for a few days afterward, so I'm living with no coffee, no red wine, no tea, no soy sauce or balsamic vinegar, no tomatoes... but I don't care. I can have all that again in a few days, and I FINALLY have white teeth!
Maybe it's a stupid thing to be so happy about, but I can't stop smiling at myself in the mirror. ;D

Re: Zoom Whitening
I've wanted this done too, but I've been told that if you've worn your enamel away they don't like to whiten your teeth :( and my enamel and gums have receeded a lot :(
Was it expensive?
I don't know if I could go the several days without coffee afterwards, hehe.

Re: Zoom Whitening
I have VERY worn enamel and gum recession. It worked great on me.
It cost $450, but it included a lot of stuff I already needed and would've had to pay for separately, like the exam, X-rays, and cleaning. So after all that, the Zoom only cost about $200 above what I was already having done. And I got a little windfall recently, so that's how I decided to spend part of it. I'm telling you, it was worth every penny! I wish I'd done it sooner!

Re: Zoom Whitening
Congrats. It's a great feeling, isn't it?
Some dentists are wary of the Zoom process because nobody has done any long-term studies of the effect of the intense light on your enamel. But the thing is, by using the bleaching solution and trays he gave you, you won't need the initial treatment anymore. In fact, you can achieve the same results from scratch with the trays and jell alone in about two weeks. I too went from a B-3 to an A-2 in a mere two weeks.
One caution -- if you plan to keep your trays in overnight, which you should -- be aware that your teeth are going to hurt if you have too much exposed root along the gumline. It's best to start out with the 10% solution and do a "pain test" over a week or so because otherwise, if you jump right in at 15% or 20%, and you have sensitive teeth, you will have a very unpleasant day the next day.

Re: Zoom Whitening
I had it done early in the year too. It hurts a bit if you have sensitive teeth...but so worth it!

Re: Zoom Whitening
I've been curious about it myself, given the amount of red wine I consume, but I guess I'm too concerned about the sensitivity of my teeth, coupled with the fact that my teeth aren't that dark.

Re: Zoom Whitening
The sensitivity is only for a few days after the procedure. I had mine done on Thursday, and now it's Sunday evening and I have no more sensitivity than I had before.
