I never even liked 50 Cent!
So, I was listening to Satellite radio today when this story came on:
http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/12/02/50...ahs-oreo-ways/
I COULD NOT FRIGGIN BELIEVE IT!!! Okay, I am sooo not an Oprah fan. But this ugly peice of shit has absolutely no brain and no class. What, is racism a good thing now? Do you have to talk and act a certain way because of your skin color? DID I MISS THE FUCKING MEMO?!?!?!!! >:(

Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
Maybe he's just looking for a fight? Oh yea as if being shot at wasnt enough he has to go and piss off Oprah. Oprah is fucking wonderful for all the contributions to society she has made in her years.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
^^Maybe she'll shoot him in the face? I'm sure Oprah has some CONNECTIONS! Heh. Yea, but didn't you hear about that um... um... What exactly has HE contributed to making the world a better place? Yea.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
jeeze what is with people and "race" issues...all it does when i read something like that is put me in a pissed off mood. 50 apparently likes drama. its gonna be real funny when everyone gets tired of his little childish comments and just all bash on him one of these days. celebs let their "power" get ahold of them and think they are invinsible...thats what happened to Pac (dont get me wrong...i LOVE me some Pac he was just arrogant).
this is irrelavent but who else thought the 50 cent movie "get rich or die trien" was the gayest movie and 50 cant act worth a damn?
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
But I thought only white people could be racist..? ::)
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
okay-- didn't hear the exact words but talked this over with a friend.
Okay-- middle class women (mostly white) watch Oprah. Considering Black people are about 13% of the population, I think Oprah helps them out (as a race) much more than 13% of the time. Also, if she helps out a lot of white people, so friggin what-- she's making money, contributing to numerous charities, getting good press and being a GREAT role model for disadvantaged youth, regardless of color.
I'm not an oprah fanatic, but I'll watch her show sometimes. Dislike Dr. Phil-- but at least I haven't heard Oprah getting into the stripper argument...so I'm cool with her.
50 cent is just looking for publicity. dumbass. Go volunteer for a charity and get publicity by working for it.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
Oprah is not catering to white women, she is catering to upper/middle class women. Period. I was raised "buppie" (black yuppie) and don't identify with the so called "ghetto" mentality. What 50 cent is doing is basically perpetuating a stereotype: that black=ghetto. I hate this guy.
And his music is crap. Give me Mos Def or Common any day (yummy).
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
^ true-- I didn't mean to say that there weren't any Black (or otherwise ethnic) middle class women...but playing the percentages...they'd still be mostly white...so only people who didn't look at numbers of people in the population (those female, those middle/upper class, those with enough time aside from kids or work to watch oprah, those who like oprah) would think that Oprah was ONLY catering to white women when that's not true.

I agree with you! I am so tierd of people calling her an oreo because of this! Why do all black people have to like rap? Why do all black people have to like the same things to be black? Why do all black people have to have the same issues to be black? Black indivuals can not be label as an indivual! Oprah really do talk about a lot good issue that is a big concern in todays society. She also talk about issue people are not aware about, that helps bring aid to certain things. If I do not like to listen to music that degrades women. Why would I praise a man whom makes this music. Why would a woman. In her right mind, want to talk about a pimp success? I believe that is what he call himself, and to my knowelge pimps do not respect women. ::)
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
I am very tired of this crap. Being a black woman who was raised in an upper middle class home, I constantly battle with expectations of who I should be. I refuse to fit into a mould or category. I refuse to limit myself.
Black culture is not only BET and what you see on TV. It is soo much broader and richer than that. I was lucky growing up to have been surrounded by many successful and educated people of colour, I wish the media portrayed more of this. I want to see more people like Oprah and less rappers and athletes.

Believe it or not, I live in the ghetto right now... the dudes there and chicks are fucking awesome. I have a street name, and get weird doorbell rings for "Becky" advice at all hours of the night. I also found out that they're very willing to thank my by doing yard work, and offer up a fresh blunt (not my thing, but I know what it means) Once in a while I have to prove I don't take shit, but never really fight save once when there was a fight on my front yard in front of some kids... not cool,
My back tenant (Grandmother of like 9 kids :O )thinks "I'm 2 thin for a white boy" and occasionally leaves me Tupperware containers of "White Soul Food" now because I don't do spicy stuff all that well, but she likes to leave it and occasionally refers to me as her "Shower Singing Landlord"
Trust me, it's not always bad. Respect for equivalence goes a long way. And it's not just words. It's in every move you make. No one wants to hurt those that they can depend on.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
^^^I hear ya, but I also think there is a difference from a lower income, hard working black neighborhood and the "ghetto". The ghetto to me is any neighborhood (b/c there are PLENTY of white rural ghettos) where there is not only poverty, but a mentality of self deprecation and a lack of desire for self preservation. People usually get the 2 confused.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
50 cent is a snitch and now he dissing Oprah. What a douche....damn studio gangsta with no skills. ;)
Oprah>50 cent
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
Oprah IS better than 50 cent
give ma Adieu of Ave Maria any time.

Why?
Because, "if you're not street, you're not authentic." If you don't belong to some monolithic idea of blackness, then by default, you must be white, and therefore undesirable. It's probably the highest form of retarded pseudo-logic there is, but there you have it.
You won't ever hear the equivalent in white or Asian communities; white trash is white trash and devoid of value outside of overt ridicule, even amongst themselves.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
Okay, I'm seasoning, marinating and basting myself to be flamed but phuck it.
Oprah is on some BULLSHIT these days.
I have a serious problem with her inviting the producers and etc. of Ice Cube's show (Black/White) to talk on her show, and not inviting Ice-Cube because she doesn't like his lyrical content.
She's had rappers/R&B artists that use foul-language, and derogatory comments toward women on her show in the past. She's acting real brand-nubian these days.
I guess she's "evolved" above all dat derrrre.
I'm not calling her an Oreo, or saying she doesn't do anything for people of her own race. I'm saying she's on some BULLSHIT, cuz there's no way in hell she agrees with everything her celebrity guests do as a part of their art.
I'll grease up the skewers, I'd like to be prepared shish-kabob style please.
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
I don't like rap. I don't like the fact that it's such a male-centered point of view. You get all the hypocrisy of how they can have sex with a lot of women but lack respect for women they have sex with. I"m glad she didn't support that.
50 Cent never called her an oreo.

50 Cent never called her an oreo.
Nobody in this thread said that 50 cent called her an "oreo". So what's your point?
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
50 cent has never stopped making me laugh.
Let's start with the damn name... hell, the man at least knows what he's worth.
As for Oprah, I was never a huge fan. I just think it's funny, since he makes money off the greens of white, suburbian teen-agers (the highest demographic of hip-hop fans with disposable income).
Re: I never even liked 50 Cent!
50 cent, along with many other black rappers does nothing but enforce and maintain the very stereotype that causes continued racism against black people.
I think it's ironic and sad that kids look up to people like him, and working to become something there is a very good reason to not like, and then complain about racism.
