Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
Hello everyone
I've been looking into getting BA for the longets time now.. I had been reading on this forum and took all the advice i could, searched for good dr in my area and visited 3 of them.
Well, I now really don't know what to do since all 3 of them told my totally diffrent stories!
The first one told me I was an excelent candidate for BA, that we could put in 450 cc no problem, that we would be best to go coesive gel, under the muslce with crease inicision. He told me he doesn't do teardrop implants cause of the high risk of rotation of the implant causing difformation.
The second Dr one told me the most cc s he would EVER put in would be 320. That I would be a problematic case since I dont have enough skin between my niple and my natural crease, which could cause the scar to ride up and be more noticable. He said my best option would be the teardop shape, over the muscle since I'm very active and my pecs are developed, and that we would go with the incision under the crease.
The last one told me that he could do 400 cc TOP, that I am at risk for having a double bubble under my breast ( where you can see the line between my natural crease and the one he made for the insicion) One of my girlfriends has it, it doesn't look good at all and I don't think I could dance with it. The Dr says it owuld leave within a year after surgery but I can't really afford to stop wprking that long :( I wants to put it under the muscle, cohesive gels as well.
So now I REALLY don't know what to do! the last dr has alot more credentials, Dr Camirand from Montreal, he's amazing and I trust him, I just don't know since I got 3 totally diffrent opinions on this..I'm so confused! àMy favorite idea would be to have over the muscle, 450 cc tear drop implants....but i know that if the Drs tell me not to go big there's a reason why : ( I just think 320 wouldn't be enough, I'm athletic, 5 8 and 145 pounds... I could well support bigger breast, but since my natural ones are small and they don't have alot to work with I know I have to compromise
Has anyone ever experienced this ? what did you do ? Any advice would help!
thanks ladies

i just noticed all the spelling mistakes...sorry!!
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
I would either work on doc #2 and try to convince him to put a larger implant in or go on a couple more consults. I went on 4 myself.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
Lots of docs won't go as big as you want, b/c they want a redo. They get paid per sergery, after all! I went to 5 consults before I could get a doc to give me 400ccs, unders, nipple inscision. The 4 that didn't make the grade: 1) wouldn't do a nipple inscision, wanted trans-ax. 2) wouldn't go that big under. 3) wouldn't go over 325. 4) wanted to do 300ccs
Shopping around is great, and make sure you know what you want going into it. Don't let a doctor dictate what will look good. Yes, they know about the risks/what will look good, and that's important. So it should be a blend of what you both want.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
I have never really heard positive things about doctors in Montreal. If you really want to invest and know they're done right I would go to Calgary and have Dr Waslen do them. I've seen at least 30 of his BA's and they're all amazing. Hes one of the best in the country.
I dont know.. im weary of Docs in Montreal because i've seen so many botch jobs come out of there. I live in Toronto and im saving to go to Waslen for mine.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
Listen to the naysaying doctors. They have no reason to lie about possible complications occuring. If the docs say you're at risk for doule bubble or scar riding up, ask what you can do to minimize the risk, and then listen to them!

so true! lots of times girls shop around for a doctor who will tell them what they want to hear, and when they find one that does, they use him. Sometimes this is good, but sometimes the doctors are telling you this for your own good. They are trying to prevent problems, not that they can't perform the surgery. They want you to be be happy. And they don't want you do come back because you need a redo. (Speaking of which, find out these doctors' redo policies.)
I think you should go by reputation first. See what the guys with the best reps say because they have the most to lose.
And look for people that have bad things to say about their doctor. It's hard to find, but it's out there. BA boards can give you a much better reference than SW. See who they worship on there and see what that doctor says.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
here's one in calgary i know is very good:
http://www.drperron.com/
get as many opinions as you need to feel comfortable having the surgery.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
thanks for all the imput ladies!
the Dr said that to try and minimize the risk of double bubble he wouldn't go over 400cc. I think I should just listen to the last Dr since he's the most experienced. I can't really go to Calgary cause then I have to bring someone with me, 2 plane tickets, hotel, food etc, alot of extra cash that I just don't have right now.
I know Dr Camirand (the last one i saw) has an excellent reputation, I just don't know if I'm willing to take the risks.. : ( I guess I'll just have to think about it more.
I don't wanna go to more Drs untill I hear what I wanna hear. I would much rather a Dr tell me his honnest opinion than get a bad boob job, definately.
thank again ladies!
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
Dr. Gilles Beauregard in Montreal (Nuns island) is kick ass. I looked for a year, asked a million women and he's who I picked. I may not be a dancer, but my boobs are perfect and I had extensive lift and scar correction too. I literaly asked 100 women I knew had or were dancers plus the rich bitches with the rich husbands for ever trying to remain young, and he was the big winner.
I went a little bigger than he wanted to go but I had always had large breasts and lost them after child and weight loss. They used to be the most hated part of my body, now their the most loved.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
DO NOT GET TEARDROPS!! I did..and then one implant shifted a few years ago. It did not attach to the muscle wall and moved! The difference isnt extremely noticable but there IS a difference! When I returned to my doc to see what happened she said she had completely stopped using teardrop shaped implants due to issues with shifting. Just a warning! And to throw my 2 cents in...LISTEN to the doctors! I have seen waaaay to many screwed up jobs (mainly larger) in 14 years of dancing...it's really unfortunate. Go smaller...and play it safe.;)
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
I agree about NOT getting teardrops. Too many issues with those. Round is better. Get round.
If you have 2 docs telling you you're at risk for complications, then you should listen to that, even if they're all saying something a bit different. It's true that some docs will tell you things to make you go smaller, in hopes you'll come back for a redo to get the size you wanted, but that's not always the case.
I would go to a couple more consultations.
Also, consider travelling like some of the Canadian girls said. You can arrange for nurse care like I did, and save the expense of bringing someone with you. Plus, the nurse care is SOOOO worth the money!!
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
I haven't met many women with teardrops, but every single one ended up regretting it eventually. Do they even really manufacture them anymore? They're a great idea in theory, but in practice they seem to shift quite a bit and then the teardrop becomes, well, something a little freaky-looking.
I know a few girls who say their docs went a little TOO big for them, but I've also heard that part of the reason some girls have redos for bigger is because they get all excited about how big their tatas are for a while after the surgery and after they "settle" they seem a lot smaller.
When I first saw mine I was horrified at how huge they looked, but I knew they'd go down.
I still can't decide if I want a redo in the same size but in silicone or if I just want to get them taken out.

There is more than a grain of truth in this contention ... that many doctors would much rather have a patient settle on 300cc implants the first time with low risk of complications, and then have them undergo a second surgery with low risk of complications to replace the 300's with 500's. This is an outgrowth of A. malpractice insurance claims creating pressure on surgeons not to perform higher risk surgeries i.e. 450cc vs 300cc in one shot, B. ASPRS guidelines re treating housewives and dancers equally, and C. some element of greed on the part of the surgeon.
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
I think what Nina said is very true! My doc actually went bigger than I wanted...at first I was horrified! As time has gone by I have gotten used to looking at them this size and they dont seem as big to me....although most people I know tell me they are HUGE for my frame. If I did get them redone I would go smaller to fit with my petite size. So consider your average weight and how natural they will look! You dont want to lose weight and be able to see they outline of your implant!! Thats not sexy!! HAHA!:P
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
silicone makes a HUGE difference where natural look / feel is concerned !!!
Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
Just a little update....
I got my BA Monday ! :) I'm still in bed, with ice, trying not to do much and letting my bf take care of me.
The whole thing went SO well. I got Dr Camirand from Montreal, 400cc unders silicone gels and I can't wait to see the final results!! I don't want to look at them too much now cause I know they'll change alot in the next few months...
Just to say thank you for all your imput, I'm so happy I got them done, and I'm excited for them to heal and be able to go back to work in 6 weeks!
thanks ladies!

Re: Help! As anyone experienced this before BA?
very cool!
It was one year ago yesterday that I got my BA. I was thinking all day today and yesterday, "this time last year I was waking up in total shock" or "this time last year I was stuck in bed like an invalid, souped up on pills." In a weird way, I miss that healing process.
