NewBie in the New York area
Hello,
I have plans on becoming a dancer. I live near New York City and I was wondering where would be a good place to start off: New York or New Jersey. I am looking for minimum to no contact
I know how to move a bit, but I never used a pole in my life.
I was also wondering what does it take to get into one of the upscale NYC clubs: Scores, Penthouse, etc.
I would assume that I would need to develop my skills before I should audition.
Perhaps I am being a bit too ambitious.
I am looking forward to your feedback.
Christy :-)

Minumum to no contact? NJ for sure. The other side of the river is definitely insane. I started out in the Bronx--but I lived in NJ (born and raised...) so then I decided I didn't really need to go THAT far away--and I walked into Harem club in Secaucas (I think? Check out EXIT magazine or Steppin' Out--those free mags u get at bars) and I was amazed that the bouncers kept telling me that I was grinding during lapdances....because I started where I did, I thought that's what I was supposed to do--anyway, only NY is allowed to have a fully licensed bar in strip clubs, in NJ it's all BYOB. If you want minimum contact, don't even go to Manhattan. I've also worked at least a week at the rest of the 'big name' clubs---but I have to say, I made so much more $$ in Manhattan, and I'm not an xtra's girl or anything. Where I eventually wound up was a place called HOT LAP DANCE CLUB---lapdances in a loft run by a sleazy pig motherfucker named Lou that will try to molest you---but I got past that and enjoyed my time there bc there were no poles, only local NYer's that have $ and are THERE to buy actual dances--that's all it is! Good luck sweetie.
Re: NewBie in the New York area
in a highly 'condensed' nutshell, the NYC area has two types of clubs. There a few highly publicized 'upper echelon' show clubs, and lots more 'lower echelon' clubs. The serious money is really only to be found in the 'upper echelon' clubs. Dancers from all over the world are aware of this, as are the 'upper echelon' NYC clubowners. As a result, for every new dancer hired by the 'upper echelon' NYC clubs, there were probably 20-50 other dancers who auditioned and were rejected. A substantial reason for rejection is lack of previous dancing experience, as the neither the 'upper echelon' clubs nor their upscale customers want/need to deal with any 'on the job training'.
On the other hand the 'lower echelon' clubs will hire girls without lots of experience, but comparatively high contact levels WILL be expected - and necessary in order to earn enough money to afford the NYC cost of living.
Re: NewBie in the New York area
After posting this trend, I've done a lot more research and then after reading your replies, I realize that I am going to have to tolerate more contact than I anticipated.
At first, the thought of more contact had me shaken up, but I've made peace with that.
Thank you for the heads up on a few clubs, I think that I am going to perhaps find a club in New Jersey.
I know that I am going be dealing with different caliber of people, for example, "Lou the Molester, or “LooliePoP the extras girl" but overall I am very excited in becoming a dancer, and when I have my first audition, I will post another trend rambling about it.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions/concerns.
;D

I do think that you will like NJ a lot. Bergen county, there are a couple along 17 which are good and very close to Manhattan.

Hey,
Im in the same boat ur in. I live in NYC and Im trying to find the right club to start dancing at. I think Ill try NJ too. I work full time as a licenced Veterinary technician, but its 3 days a week (14 hr shifts) Ive got tons of medical bills from being in the hospital last year, so dancing will help out a lot with that, Im actually excitied, but dont know what Im doing exactly. In the bedroom is one thing....ya know?!;)
Re: NewBie in the New York area
I do not know what I am doing, too Taribella. I do agree, NJ seems to be the best bet.
I have had the opportunity to checked out a couple of places in NY. I went to SinCity in the Bronx during the day. The club was not as bad as the area, but working there would have been a bit too close to home; also, it is a high contact club.
I answered a post on craigslist. for an “Exclusive Club.” The information given to me by the recruiter (or owner) I spoke too, the website and craigslist post was inconsistent.
For example, on the website it states in large bold font that the customers are prohibited from touching the dancers on their breasts, and buttocks. When I spoke to the recruiter, he told me that I have to be prepare to allow the men to touch my breasts and buttocks.
Here is another example, the post only mentioned topless, but the website stated nude and topless. I emailed the man I spoke to and he said that Wednesday is topless only, but on the website it mentions that Wednesday is topless and nude. He also said that I do not have to go fully nude. This is something that should have been stated in the post or should have told me up front and not wait until I bring it up two days before the audition. He would have let me audition to find out that it is all nude.
It is probably a great job, but I ended up canceling the audition, because my red flags went up.
I was probably rambling a bit, but the moral to this story is go with you sixth sense. If your Spidy Senses are tingling, just walk away. Especially being newbies and not knowing how this business operates to well.
Or I might be too paranoid. ;)
Re: NewBie in the New York area
Posts about specific clubs and areas belong in Club Chat, so I split the last one into there.

NYC is what you make of it. You won't know unless you try.
