Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Take a multi-vitamin (I think it's the B vitamins that really help?) before bed. I have a friend who swears on drinking a butt-load of gatoraide before the drinking begins.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
When I worked in alcohol clubs, I would allow myself one drink before midnight and one drink after, and no drinks within an hour of leaving. And someone else had to buy them for me - I wouldn't spend the money myself. I found that I made more money and felt better overall with this system.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Thanks- I guess the gatorade will have to do....yuck! I hate how that tastes though.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
I used to drink three drinks a night or two together in the entire night.... but then I stopped completely.
'cause one day I decided absinthe was a good idea!!

Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Once I start, I have a hard time stopping so I try to avoid it altogether. Moderation isn't one of my strong points.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
I'm with Yek, I limit myself to 2 drinks a shift and stop within a few hours of leaving. I also NEVER buy my own and I'll only accept a drink from a guy if I'm fairly certain it will lead to dances and it isn't really busy.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Moderation is key. One must be disciplined to drink only enough to feel relaxed and then stop. I've found I focus more on drinking and let the $$ take backseat when I drink too much. I maintain between 1-3 drinks per shift.
Drinking water before bed helps me feel better in the morning because I'm not so dehydrated after drinking.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
it is important that you line your stomach with a good lining like a good meal or a snack if your in a hurry. You should drink a glass of orange juice as it is ment to (dont know if it actually does) help with hang overs if you happen to drink alot in the night. Drink water in between drinks if you can (or orange juice)
Limit yourself on your drinks and if your going to drive, make sure you are not over the limit or you find an alternative way home ie. Cab, Friend, Tram/Train
Keep in mind that shots are 1 standard drink. To get the most of your drinking, try drinking mixed drinks ie. With coke, lemonade, soda, etc. And dont mix your drinks. Also eat foods that are stacked with vitamins (fruits and veges) as your body will need the antioxidents to fight off the alcohol.
Happy Drinking :-D

Thats what I did when I worked down in an alch. club. In the meantime I had a system with the waitress to just bring me cranberry/water to make it look like a vodka cranberry. I'd slowly sip on those and the customer never thought twice about it. I like being alert and on top of my game while I'm working. Honestly I love to see other girls plastered because they are just to messed up to notice the money in the club. ;)
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
^^^I make more money after drinks than before!:-[
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Ok I am going to admit this and many girls that have worked with me know this. I AM A HEAVY DRINKER! There I admited it! I dont drink at home, or when I go out and about, but I know I drink too much at work. Lately though I've been telling the bartenders to cut me off at midnight.
Right at 1 am I switch to loads of water and I also try and snack on crackers and granola bars during the night. I drink a large bottle of water on the way home and keep another large bottle next to my bed. Even when I dont drink I wake up for no reason thirsty. My sister who isnt a dancer does the water thing after I had a talk with her and she takes tylenol before she goes to bed and when she wakes up. Major alky there but the water and tylenol help her.
As for drinking at work, I make some serious money! I have a blast but I'm not that drunk where I'm going to fall on my ass or do something stupid. The booze also helps me a little bit more with the confidence and the dumb blonde thing. I know that there is no reason for me to be drinking that much. I didnt party when I was 21 and I only started drinking about a year ago. I'm having fun while I can and there will be a time where I know I will have to quit the whole thing all together.
Until then, where's the bar and who's buying?
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Thanks Gem for writing that- I appreciate not feeling like the only one.:)
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
*IF* I drink I make sure I eat well before and I nurse a drink.. after each drink i'll go to the changing room and guzzle some water, wait a bit and have another.. repeate as needed.

I'm right with you, there, Gemini! I will drink moderately at the beginning of the night (1 right when I get there, and 2-3 more when they are purchased for me by custies). I, also, do better after I've had a drink or two because I'm a LOT friendlier and more comfortable talking to people. I also have more fun, which shows. But I'm careful about not getting out of control...I see some of the girls get absolutely sh*t-housed and do NOT want to be one of them! They do not make any money because they're too drunk to dance well or carry any sort of conversation. Custies like a "party girl" but not necessarily a DRUNK girl. So I make sure to cut myself off at midnight and switch to water.
Of course, my club has a breathylizer that we have to pass before being allowed to drive home so I have to make sure that I'm not over the legal limit. That's good motivation to control myself.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Full stomach
Max 2-3 drinks (depending on your tolerance)
Lots of water
Salty snacks & vitamin pills....
Yep, yep, yep, and yep! You guys have already covered everything I'd say.
Except one thing: NEVER take tylenol with alcohol. It can destroy your liver. Use ibuprofen (advil/motrin) or aspirin instead.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
I'm told that i'm quite unapproachable unless i'm drinking. I always do better at work with a few in me :-[ I do wish it wasn't this way.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Drinking helps with confidence! I tend to dance much better with a few in me and of course there is the non-stop smile! No offense to those who dont drink, but the guys like it if you party with them.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
Be grateful that, in most clubs these days, the 'drink hustle' / Ladies Drinks business model has pretty much fallen by the wayside. Under that business model, if a dancer wasn't prepared to down a dozen mixed drinks every night she couldn't keep the customers happy nor earn big money.
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
At one of the clubs I work, I have to sell 9 a night and they are not that big. Either way, it still can kcik my butt if I dont watch it!
Re: Drinking on the J-O-B...
I noticed customers looked put-off when I declined drinks for "medical" reasons :(
Guess I'll start saying "Religious reasons" ;D
(PS Drink hustle sucks even if you're having no-alkie drinks...I had to down several glasses of Coca-Cola with invisible "rum" at the drink hustle club...I was dizzy from blood sugar drop when I would go to bed..:P )

Maybe cause they think you really mean, "I'm pregnant." If I am not drinking, I say I am trying to lose weight or something.
However, if I am in a "mood", drinking gets me into a party spirit and I make more money. Otherwise, I turn into lazy dancer. :P
