"GODFATHER of soul" James Brown has died aged 73. The dynamic singer was admitted to Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta at the weekend with severe pneumonia and died early on Christmas morning, according to his agent.

All of us should be grateful to Mr. Brown for creating and inspiring some of the best booty-shaking music in the world! One of my top 10 all-time favorite songs to dance to is "The Payback." This was sad news to wake up to.
Rest In Peace
RIP, godfather
Say what you will about his personal antics, the man was an original.
Like many true geniuses and artists, they live colorful lives. He will be missed and his contributions to music will live forever.
Damn, another one bites the dust. RIP Mr. Brown :'(
Wow. Guess the big man upstairs needed another great one for his angelic choir this year. RIP, Soul Man.
Thank you.
...and may you rest in peace :(
Simply Amazing.
Rest
in
Peace.
Rest In Peace. Another ICON lost to us this year.
Rip James Brown
Oh shit, get out...damn. May he rest in peace.
Thank you, and RIP Mr. Brown.
:'(
(Dan told me this morning. And all I could think was that he had to go out in style, on Xmas Day.)
and here i am wishing that he would just get up from under his cape, and keep dancin'....
so long, sex machine!! RIP
Wow...just saw this...and I can't believe how much I am broken up about this.
James is responsible for so much of the stuff I listen to on a daily basis. Turn on the radio and hear Justin Timberlake, Ciara, Chris Brown, T.I. and Snoop in 5 random songs and realize that they ALL owe something to him.
Resolution #2 for 2007...see B.B. King in concert. Can't wait on these things...there WON'T always be time.

oh wow. a great loss. so long godfather
Oh no! So sad to hear this :'(
I regret not being able to see him live , what a life he had though .
Wow. Suck. George Clinton put out a "hits" compilation and in the liner notes he was giving props to different artists, and when he started naming hip hop folks, he said "Aw, hell, any one who has ever sampled James Brown or myself". And that pretty much sums it up. RIP, James.
I can't believe that he is dead. I grew up to soul music and James Brown the godfather of hip-hop.
Me and my man bought tickets because he was suppose to perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem New Years Eve night.
What a blow.
This is soooo crazy!!! My dad used to beat me & my brother to James Brown's lyrics. I mean, I'd get a lecture consisting of "Papa don't take no mess", or"Papa's got a brand new bag", and I KNEW I was about to get whooped, lol
Still in all, I love James Brown's music & watching him perform, and the story behind the song, The Big Payback...Priceless.
He was not only a Soul originator, but when u think about it, he was a "battle rap" originator, when he wrote that song about screwing Al Green's wife!
R.I.P. Godfather! I think about you everytime I do a split on stage;)
